Baby dropped out of car during police chase
A man dropped his fiancee's 8-month-old daughter out of a car as he fled police after being accused of domestic violence, authorities said.
The girl, strapped in a carseat, was unhurt but the man later was fatally injured in a crash.
Dana Bettin, 23, died Sunday, three days after the dramatic highway chase that ended when he crashed his fiancee's car into an unoccupied squad car.

Boiler Kills on Impact After Sauna Launch
A boiler that exploded at a Chinese sauna sailed over a six-story building and landed on an old man crossing the road, Xinhua news agency said.
The 63-year-old pedestrian was killed instantly and three people injured in Sunday's bizarre accident in Baotou, Inner Mongolia, Xinhua quoted local police as saying.

Doing hard time in monkey jail
The thief threatened children with bricks and ripped the buttons off shirts. He stole tomatoes from one home and snatched bread from another. Down the street, he briefly fled with a differential equations book and beat a calculator with his fist.
He was one bad monkey. And last week he was sentenced to life in prison for his crimes, inmate No. 13 at the country's only known monkey jail, where very bad monkeys are sent to live out their remaining years.

Bürger der norwegischen Stadt Bergen können ab sofort günstige gebrauchte Grabsteine kaufen. Wie der Rundfunksender NRK am Montag berichtete, hat der Kirchenrat der zweitgrößten Stadt Norwegens eine entsprechende Ordnung beschlossen, um ein bisschen Geld in die Kassen zu bekommen und Platz für neue Grabstätten zu schaffen.

Ethics Chief Accused of Cheating Is Fired
The head of Connecticut's ethics commission was fired Friday after being accused of such things as cheating on his work hours and telling a subordinate to lie in response to a federal subpoena.
The State Ethics Commission voted unanimously to remove Alan Plofsky as executive director, saying there was enough evidence to prove the allegations.
Plofsky denied any wrongdoing and vowed to fight for his job.
"This was unfair and improper and I will be exonerated," he said.

Chances 'slim' for survival of two-headed baby
AN Afghan woman has given birth in Iran to twin boys whose heads share the same body, doctors said today.
The babies stood little chance of survival, they added. "I've seen twin attached by the head or stomach but never a baby with two heads," a female doctor at the Ghaem hospital in the north-western city of Mashhad told AFP by telephone.

Man shoots self while explaining gun safety
It's an all-too-realistic lesson in gun safety. An Indiana coroner is recovering from a leg wound after accidentally shooting himself.
Monroe County Coroner David Toumey says he was demonstrating gun safety late one night last week at a boat ramp, when the gun went off. He tells The Herald-Times as he was checking to make sure the gun was unloaded, it fired.

Häftlinge im Knast der australischen Stadt Grafton züchteten in ihren Zellen hochgiftige Rotrücken-Spinnen.
Gemäss der Tageszeitung «The Courier-Mail» entnahmen sie den Tieren ihr Gift, füllten es in Spritzen ab, setzten sich einen Schuss und wurden dadurch high.
