Paint fragment from Belmont Art Park
This is an extreme closeup scan (2400 dpi) of a paint chip retrieved from the ruins of Belmont Art Park by Amy McKenzie earlier this year. The fragment is about 1cm thick, and appears to consist of about 150-200 layers of paint. (For a sense of scale, note the ridges of my fingerprint in the lower right.) This should give you an idea of the staggering number of pieces painted in this spot over the decades.

Nestling in the foothills of the Alps in northern Italy, 30 miles from the ancient city of Turin, lies the valley of Valchiusella. Peppered with medieval villages, the hillside scenery is certainly picturesque.
But it is deep underground, buried into the ancient rock, that the region's greatest wonders are concealed.

British Airways still flies ghost planes across the Atlantic
British Airways is flying dozens of empty planes across the Atlantic because it has no cabin crew to staff them.
Each one pumps out thousands of tons of CO2, in some cases almost 70 times the average adult's annual carbon footprint.
The ghost services have been flying between Britain, Canada and the U.S. over the past two weeks.

Blair’s 16 Million is hot?
Why would a hot sauce need a disclaimer?
Because when it’s Blair’s 16 Million Reserve, a pharmaceutical grade vial filled with pure capsaicin crystal, even a little bit is enough to kill.
Literally.
When Blair sells it, he specifically states: “Blair’s 16 Million is not a sauce or an ingredient. This product is made available for experimental/display purposes only”.

Trent Reznor and Saul Williams Discuss Their New Collaboration, Mourn OiNK
Spoken-word and hip-hop artist Saul Williams toured with Nine Inch Nails last year, and Trent Reznor liked him so much that he decided to produce his new album. The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of Niggy Tardust!, a mind-boggling fusion of genres — think NIN meets Gnarls Barkley meets Justice, if you can do so without your head exploding — will be released tomorrow through Williams's Website as a free download (or you can chip in five bucks to support Saul). The two artists spoke with Vulture by phone from L.A. this afternoon, discussing the album's genesis, the imploding record industry, and how much they paid for the new Radiohead album.
