Hacking-Maschine bei Siemens Austria testet rund um die Uhr Datensicherheit
Alle möglichen Hacker-Angriffe aus dem Internet testet der Bereich 'Business Services' bei der Siemens AG in Österreich 24 Stunden am Tag. Die ausdauernd tätigen Simultan-Hacker prüfen jegliche Form von Sicherheitslücken.
'PASU' (Permanente Automatisierten Sicherheitsüberprüfung) heißt das Zauberwort der Netz-Administratoren bei SBS in Wien-Floridsdorf, wo die Hacking-Maschine im Hochsicherheitstrakt des Siemens Rechenzentrums steht.
Anwendungen von Hackern, aber auch von unbedarften Usern, die an leicht zu knackende Passwörter, Zugangsberechtigungen oder andere unbeabsichtigte Installationen geraten, sind das zu erforschende Ziel der IT-Experten bei Siemens Österreich.

DoS Attacken: Eselfilme.com setzt Belohnung auf Hinweise zu Täter aus
Die schon vor wenigen Monaten gehackte Edonkey Community, Eselfilme, muss sich seit dem 20.05.04 mit DoS Attacken beschäftigen, die einen Datenverlust nach sich zogen und auch weiterhin Schaden anrichten.

WLAN-Hacker werden mit neuer Software gefunden
Ein neues Produkt der Firma Computer Associates soll unautorisierte Access Points und WLAN-Hacker automatisch finden. Die Beta-Version des 'Wireless Site Management' wurde kürzlich von CA in Las Vegas vorgeführt.

Die US-Regierung wird in den kommenden Tagen den Aufbau einer «virtuellen Grenze» in Auftrag geben. Es entsteht das weltweit größte Überwachungssystem.

CCTV goes wi-fi to fight crime
In the UK there is one CCTV camera for every 14 people. If you are in London, you could be caught on camera up to 300 times a day. But the cameras are expensive, and once you have installed one, and laid all the wires back to base, it is fixed and cannot move.

AN ALLIANCE OF HACKERS dubbed the Hackers Against America (HAA) has had its website defaced by er a Hacker.
The group, which has its site based deep in the Russian Confederation, boasts that it has links to the Al Qaeda terror group.

Defending against the OS X help: vulnerability
There's a nasty OS X vulnerability under discussion at the moment which lets a web page execute code on your machine by taking advantage of a flaw in the "help:" protocol. There's a non-malicious demonstration of the exploit on this page, and Jay Allen is hosting a discussion on the exploit and ways to avoid it.

MacOS: Kritische Programmfehler ermöglichen Internet-Angriffe
Im Betriebssystem MacOS sind nun zwei 'extrem kritische' Sicherheitslücken bekannt geworden. Angreifer können durch Ausnutzen der Fehler einen beliebigen Code auf dem Zielrechner ausführen.
Bei Apple ist man sich zwar dem Ernst der Lage bewusst, einen Patch stellt der Hard- und Software-Konzern jedoch noch nicht zur Verfügung.
Eine Sicherheitsfirma berichtet außerdem, dass bereits Anleitungen im Internet zu finden seien, die die Nutzung der Sicherheitslücke erläutern. Außerdem rate man dazu, vorerst nur vertrauenswürdige Webseiten aufzusuchen.

Cisco source code stolen?
A Russian security site is reporting that the source code for the Cisco IOS 12.3 Operating System was stolen. According to the report, some hackers compromised Cisco's corporate network and stole at least 800MB of source code. One of those who allegedly gained access boasted about the break-in and made a 2.5MB snippet of the code available on IRC not long after the alleged break-in.

Student uncovers US military secrets
An Irish graduate student has uncovered words blacked-out of declassified US military documents using nothing more than a dictionary and text analysis software.
Claire Whelan, a computer science student at Dublin City University was given the problems by her PhD supervisor as a diversion. David Naccache, a cryptographer with Gemplus, challenged her to discover the words missing from two documents: one was a memo to George Bush, and another concerned military modifications to civilian helicopters.
