Little Sleep Impairs Mind as Much as No Sleep
Many nights of little sleep--fewer than six hours a night--can impair mental performance as much as not getting a wink for two nights in a row, new research shows. The 48 participants in the study were divided into four groups that slept either four, six or eight hours a night for two weeks, or had no sleep for three days. The groups were monitored in a laboratory throughout the two weeks to ensure that they did not nod off or use caffeine.

The science of flirting
THE reason men often mistake the slightest sign of friendliness from a woman as amorous invitation has been resolved by social scientists.
Male over-optimism - often followed by a clumsy chat-up attempt - is triggered by women sending out a series of subtle and highly deceptive flirting signals known as "proteans" when they meet a prospective mate.
Although often interpreted as a "go" signal by the man, these represent only an instinctive attempt by the woman to assess him and work out whether he is worth pursuing. All potential mates are subjected to the same subconscious interrogation.

Water 'flows' on Mars
Dark streaks on crater and valley walls may indicate that brackish water currently flows across the surface of Mars.
New images and analysis suggest the slopes around the Red Planet's largest extinct volcano, Olympus Mons, contain dark stains caused by brine flowing down hill.
The discovery indicates that the substantial underground ice deposits on the Mars can sometimes melt and flow across the surface.

Newtons apokalyptische Mathematik
