For humans and robot, it's puppy love
AIBO the dog is not a bundle of fur but instead a lapdog-shaped collection of plastic parts, motors, gears and computer chips.
And it's true. AIBO won't die, although the robot does need to recharge its batteries from time to time. AIBO doesn't need dog food or treats. It won't wake you up at 3 a.m., begging for a quick walk around the block. It won't pee on the carpet or chase the cat.

The device could be yours with a winning bid on eBay with just one catch — you have to agree not to use it.

Humanoid robots: companions or just costly toys?
In the 1950s, Astro Boy drew on his 100,000 horsepower and hip-mounted machineguns to fight evil-doers. Despite his supposed April 7, 2003, birthday, however, the creation of robots the likes of Astro will probably remain a superhero pipe dream forever.
