Robots Choose iTunes Over Pirated Music...
Swiss eggheads at the University of Fèdèrale de Lausanne have invented swarming robots that communicate and evolve. When given the choice, for example, between pirated, illegally downloaded music, or those purchased legally through iTunes, five out of six robots choose iTunes.

Spyke the spybot gets a price and release date
n case you were still wondering when you could get your hands on one those Erector Spyke bots, and for how much, we've got word that the bot will be hitting for £200 on April 9th, at least in the UK. That's about $390 in real people money, quite steep for what you're getting: a remotely accessible WiFi-enabled bot which can drive around your home, sense intruders, and shoot video to you over the internets. Oh, and R2-D2 bleeps and bloops, can't forget those. There's an action vid after the break.

The automated birdwatcher stands in a US wildlife reserve in Arkansas, scanning the skies for a glimpse of the elusive ivory-billed woodpecker.

Robot mother helps South Koreans prepare for birth
With South Korea's birth rate at its lowest ever, medical students are resorting to robots to practice bringing babies into the world.
Kyunghee University Medical Center in Seoul is the first institution in South Korea to use Noelle, a life-sized robot, and her "newborn" to give obstetric students experience.

Robots could demand legal rights
Robots could one day demand the same citizen's rights as humans, according to a study by the British government.
If granted, countries would be obliged to provide social benefits including housing and even "robo-healthcare", the report says.

Top 10 robots selected for Japan's Robot Award 2006
Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has announced its top ten list of finalists for the 2006 Robot Award. The ten robots selected from 152 applications fall into four categories — service robots, industrial robots, public sector robots, and small- to medium-sized venture robots.

Cocktail robots mix mojitos
Chapok is one of around 30 robots at Vienna's annual Roboexotica, which showcases how home-built machines deal with the modern pastime of hanging out in bars.
Robots were invited to demonstrate their skills in categories like mixing cocktails, serving drinks and snacks, bar conversation and smoking cigarettes and cigars.

Actroid DER2 fembot
Kokaro a division of Sanrio which specializes in robotics has unveiled the Actroid DER2 fembot a successor to the Actroid DER. The Actroid DER2 is a bit thinner and can deliver more expressions, in fact she is so lifelike that you might mistake her for an actual human being. Its limbs, torso and facial expressions are controlled by a system of actuators powered by pneumatic pressure. She can even choreograph her motions and gestures with her voice.

Der 1,2 Meter hohe plüschige Pferderoboter soll wie ein echtes Pferd reagieren und wird mit einer mitgelieferten Plastikkarotte bzw. Batterien gefüttert.
