DelFly MAV Does It All In Only 16 Grams
The DelFly II, developed by the Delft University of Technology, is one of those miracles of construction that, at first glance, doesn’t seem to be physically possible. In a 16 gram package, this ornithopter can fly for at least 15 minutes (at a maximum speed of 30mph) or hover in place for 8. It can take off and land vertically, and can even fly backwards. It’s fully out of sight controllable thanks to realtime onboard streaming video (!). Since it uses flapping wings, it’s quiet, efficient, and robust enough to fly comfortably in wind and survive collisions with objects.

Waseda-Docomo Face Robot Version 2
This Waseda-Docomo Face Robot is made by Takanishi who will be featured at Wired Nextfest for this Biped Robot.
During human communication, a human distinguishes the partnerfs individuals by the facial features such as the silhouette, the position and shape of each part, and gauges the mental state based on the facial expressions. Many researchers have developed the robots that can express their emotions using the facial expressions.

Why do robot experts build such lousy robots?
In Silicon Valley, any conference calling itself the "Best of the Best" promises more fluff than stuff. But a recent Churchill Club event which promised the cream of the robotics industry confirmed the sceptics' worst fears. Consumer robotics is a business built mostly on play, hope and tinkering - rather than profit or technical accomplishment - to the point that huge, obvious, deal-breaker truths are never even mentioned.

Cowpoke
The Dutch company Lely has developed SOLAR-POWERED ROBOTS that move an electric fence to make sure dairy cows evenly graze their pastures. Two robots each hold one side of the fence, and move very slowly, which maximizes grass growth and prevents manure contamination. The robots have sensors that monitor the angle and speed of the fence, as well as tautness, and communicate with each other via Bluetooth.

A Cool Robot for polar duty
Antarctica is one of the harshest places on Earth to work. But it's also an important site for scientific study, especially given rising worries about global warming. So any tool that helps keep the frostbite away from flesh-and-blood researchers is bound to be a good thing.

Robo-salamander's evolution clues
A robot is being used by a Franco-Swiss team to investigate how the first land animals on Earth might have walked.
The bot looks a lot like a salamander; and the scientists can change the way it swims, slithers and crawls with commands sent wirelessly from a PC.
