Imran Khan draws more than 100,000 to rally in Karachi
Cricketer-turned-politician hits home with anti-corruption, anti-US message at rally in Pakistan's largest city
More than 100,000 people have rallied in support of the Pakistani cricket legend and opposition politician Imran Khan in the country's biggest city, Karachi, further cementing his status as a rising force in politics.
His message of cracking down on corruption and standing up to the US has found fresh resonance at a time when Pakistanis are fed up with the country's chronic insecurity and economic malaise.
Khan, 59, entered politics 15 years ago when he founded Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, or the Movement for Justice party, but has struggled to translate his fame into votes. His political fortunes shifted in October when he drew more than 100,000 people to a rally in the eastern city of Lahore.

Russia vote-rigging protests in Vladivostok and Moscow
Russia's opposition is holding rallies to protest against what it says were rigged elections on 4 December.
In the first of the day's rallies in the far eastern city of Vladivostok, regional MP Artyom Samsonov said the election results should be cancelled.
In the capital alone, organisers say some 50,000 people are expected to gather on Sakharov Avenue.

Hungary police detain opposition MPs in chain protest
Hungarian police have broken up a demonstration by green liberal opposition MPs who chained themselves together outside parliament.
Former Socialist Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany was among several MPs detained by police at the scene in Budapest, Reuters news agency says.
The LMP party activists were blocking the parliament's car park, trying to prevent MPs entering, reports say.

September sei Fischern in den Gewässern von Chongjin eine zehn Zentimeter lange weiße Seegurke ins Netz gegangen, meldete KCNA. Dieses seltene Tier sei aufgetaucht, um das Ereignis der Wahl des Genossen Kim Jong Il zum Generalsekretär der Partei zu begrüßen, hieß es in dem Bericht.

Newt Gingrich, the 2012 GOP candidate who takes pride in being the most blatant hypocrite in the race thus far, somehow actually has a chance. This is probably due to the lack of knowledge that the brainwashed citizenry of the United States have about him.
So let’s take a look at what this American “patriot” has done and said, shall we?
Newt Gingrich was the 58th Speaker of the House from January 4, 1995 – January 3, 1999 under President Bill Clinton. During his term as Speaker of the House, eighty-four ethics charges were filed against him. After an investigation by the House Ethics Committee, he was forced to pay $300,000. According to Wikipedia, Mr. Gingrich was the first Speaker of the House ever to be disciplined for ethical wrongdoing. In January of 1997, Mr. Gingrich admitted to giving inaccurate, incomplete, and unreliable statements to the committee. The House Ethics Committee concluded that the inaccurate information supplied to investigators was an “intentional or … reckless” disregard of House rules.

Sonderlich kalt ist es dieser Tage in Moskau nicht, aber ungleich finster. Präsident Medwedew hat die Umstellung auf Winterzeit für entbehrlich erklärt, also wird es nun erst kurz vor zehn Uhr hell. Wann der Tag beginnt, erkennt man nur noch am heillosen Morgenverkehr. Klar, dass bei diesem täglichen Hin- und Zurückwahnsinn eine Smogglocke über der Stadt hängen muss. Doch selbst wenn dann endlich das Tageslicht durchdringt, fühlt man noch immer keine Helligkeit. Im Gegenteil.

Pressefreiheit in Ungarn - Einziges Oppositionsradio wird eingestellt
Die einzige oppositionelle Radiostation Ungarns darf nicht mehr senden: Die Regierung vergab die Frequenz kurzerhand an einen unbekannten Konkurrenten. Erst am Montag hatte das Verfassungsgericht das umstrittene Pressegesetz des Landes gekippt - allerdings nur für Print- und Onlinemedien.
Am kommendem Jahr gibt es den Sender Klubradio in Ungarn nicht mehr. Die einzige oppositionelle Radiostation des Landes muss eingestellt werden. Die Nationale Medienaufsichtsbehörde NMHH hat die Frequenz, über die der Sender ausgestrahlt wird, an einen bislang unbekannten Mitbewerber vergeben. Das berichtete das Internet-Portal "nol.hu" am Dienstagabend.
Der Schritt kam nicht unerwartet. Die NMHH ist mit Personen besetzt, die eng mit der rechts-konservativen Regierungspartei FIDESZ vertraut sind. Diese hatten die anstehende Neuvergabe der Frequenz bereits in einer Weise ausgeschrieben, dass dem Klubradio - einem Sender mit vielen politik-kritischen Programmen - wenig Chancen zugebilligt wurden. Insbesondere verlangte die Ausschreibung eine "starke Berücksichtigung ungarischer Musik" bei der Programmgestaltung.

Bald Drohnen über deutschen Dächern
Der Deutsche Bundestag ist dabei, das gesetzliche Flugverbot für Drohnen im zivilen Luftraum aufzuheben. Die Überwachung von Großereignissen durch unbemannte Flieger wird künftig auf dem Verordnungswege möglich.
Am vergangenen Donnerstag wurde ein Entwurf zur Änderung des Luftverkehrsgesetzes im Deutschen Bundestag vorgestellt, der weitreichende Folgen haben wird. Neben verschiedenen Bestimmungen zur Umsetzung einer EU-Richtlinie für mehr Kostentransparenz bei Flughäfen findet sich auch eine, die eines der bisherigen Prinzipien der weltweiten, zivilen Luftfahrt kippt.

The Drone as Privacy Catalyst - Could Domestic Surveillance Drones Spur Tougher Privacy Laws?
Have you ever been spied on by a surveillance drone? No? Are you sure? Maybe it looked like a hummingbird. Or an insect. Or maybe it was just really high up. Maybe there's one looking in your window right now, and if so, there's no law that says it shouldn't.
In a recent article in the Stanford Law Review, Ryan Calo discusses how domestic surveillance drones would fit into the current legal definitions of privacy (and violations thereof), and how these issues could inform the future of privacy policy. The nutshell? Surveillance robots have the potential to fundamentally degrade privacy to such an extent that they could serve as a catalyst for reform.

Tea party fears U.N. intervention in 2012 election
The tea party has added another item to its list of reasons to fear the United Nations: Some in the movement say the U.N. is planning to intervene in the United States’ upcoming elections.
This week, when Attorney General Eric Holder announced his speech on voting rights, the Texas group True the Vote called for a protest of the event because “Holder is for NAACP Plans to involve the United Nations in US Elections.” [Their emphasis.]
True the Vote, a voter integrity initiative launched by the Houston tea party group King Street Patriots, held a national summit this year featuring some of the right’s most incendiary speakers, such as Andrew Breitbart, The Texas Independent reported. According to the Independent, “representatives from more than 25 states attended the two-day national summit in Houston to receive training and information about the conservative organization’s efforts to combat voter fraud.”

CIA Releases Documents on Reagan, Intelligence, and the End of the Cold War
In early November, the Central Intelligence Agency’s Information Management Services (IMS) declassified and released more than 200 documents highlighting intelligence the CIA provided to the Reagan Administration on key Soviet issues. The documents covered:
high-level arms control summits between former US President Reagan and former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev,
Soviet attempts to revamp an increasingly inefficient and failing economic system, and
evidence of widening fissures in a Soviet society which was becoming increasingly difficult for Party leaders to control.
Highlights of the collection include video briefings** produced by the CIA’s Directorate of Intelligence on such topics as the Soviet space program, the Andropov succession, the Chernobyl disaster, and the Soviet media portrait of America. These briefings represent the first time the Agency used videos on a regular basis to deliver intelligence to policymakers. The entire collection marks the first substantial release of such historical material.
