Nelson Mandela:

The United States of America is a Threat to World Peace. Nelson Mandela, 84, may be the world’s most respected statesman. Sentenced to life in prison on desolate Robben Island in 1964 for advocating armed resistance to apartheid in South Africa, the African National Congress leader emerged in 1990 to lead his country in a transition to non-racial elections. As president, his priority was racial reconciliation; today South Africans of all races refer to him by his Xhosa clan honorific, Madiba. Mandela stepped down in 1999 after a single five-year term. He now heads two foundations focused on children. He met with NEWSWEEK’S Tom Masland early Monday morning in his office in Houghton, a Johannesburg suburb, before flying to Limpopo Province to address traditional leaders on the country’s AIDS crisis.

Putin Feared Might Become Cabby When Quit KGB

Russian President Vladimir Putin feared he might be left jobless and reduced to driving a cab when he quit the KGB during the 1991 Hardline communist coup, according to a biography launched Wednesday. "To be honest, I thought then: if the coup plotters triumph and they don't put me in jail, how am I going to support my family, how?!" he says in the book of the turbulent coup attempt in August 1991, which triggered the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Inside Saddam's weapons factory

I was the first British journalist to see the al Qaim "uranium processing plant" at Akashat, 280 miles west of Baghdad and just three miles from the border with Syria on the banks of the Euphrates. This is where the Americans say the Iraqi dictator is stockpiling nuclear weapons and where the Iraqis insist they are not.

"Our campaign will not end until America's foreign policy has ended. We are Americans united against war. We want the killing to end and America's foreign policy makers brought to justice for the attempted genocide of more than 500,000 innocent children in Iraq. America's foreign policy makers have brought hate to the people of the United States. We the people of the United States charge this government and their coalition with conspiracy to commit genocide and crimes of terrorism against Muslim people in our names."

Webmaster indicted for terror support WASHINGTON--A federal grand jury has indicted the founder of the StopAmerica.org Web site on charges of aiding al-Qaida terrorists. Prosecutors say Earnest James Ujaama, 36, who was born James Earnest Thompson, conspired to create an al-Qaida boot camp in rural Oregon. Ujaama also helped al-Qaida with computer training and Internet propaganda, according to the 9-page indictment released late Wednesday.
