MP suspended over Pink Ladies in Parliament


A federal Labor MP has been suspended from Parliament for 24 hours after refusing to apologise for taking apples into Question Time.

Tasmanian MP Harry Quick brought the apples into Parliament to mark National Apple and Pear Day and to raise concerns about the disease risks from imported apples.

Under the rules of Parliament, food cannot be taken into the chamber.

Megawati tells voters to elect the prettiest candidate for president


Indonesian President Megawati is the only woman in the five candidate race and she suggested to the many voters that are confused to choose the best looking one.

She is running against two former generals, an ex-security minister, a former military chief, and her vice president.

Megawati lost support for her democratic party and shows her at 11.2 percent now from an opinion poll.

Bevor Cheney Vizepräsident wurde, war er Chef von Halliburton. Die E-Mail stammt vom 5.3.2003, dort steht unter anderem, dass bei der Auftragsvergabe nicht mit Schwierigkeiten zu rechnen ist,'da die Aktion mit dem Büro des Vizepräsidenten abgestimmt ist'.

'Fathers 4 Justice' Activists Fined Over Condom Bomb Incident


Guy Harrison, 36, said outside the court after receiving a fine for throwing purple flour filled condoms at Prime Minister Blair: "It is an amazing country when you can throw a condom at a prime minister easier than a father can see his children."

Harrison was one of two members of the "Fathers4Justice" group being tried for the incident which happened on May 19 at the House of Commons, (sn reported). Ronald Davis, 48, pleaded not guilty and was remanded on conditional bail until June 9th.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

  This Act may be cited as the `Congressional Accountability for Judicial Activism Act of 2004'.

SEC. 2. CONGRESSIONAL REVERSAL OF SUPREME COURT JUDGMENTS.

  The Congress may, if two thirds of each House agree, reverse a judgment of the United States Supreme Court--

        (1) if that judgment is handed down after the date of the enactment of this Act; and

        (2) to the extent that judgment concerns the constitutionality of an Act of Congress. <P></P>

Wie der Landeswahlleiter Hüttebräuker jetzt mitteilt, fallen 45 Bürgermeisterwahlen in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern am 13. Juni aus. Es haben sich keine Personen gefunden, die als Kandidaten aufgestellt werden konnten.

Seit 1999 sind die Kandidaten für ein solches Amt um zwölf Prozent zurückgegangen. Die Chancen in den Gemeinden gewählt zu werden, sind sehr gut. Auf ein Mandat kommen durchschnittlich nur zwei Bewerber.
