Australian Wikileak founder's passport confiscated
Julian Assange, the Australian founder of the whistleblower website Wikileaks, says he had his passport taken away from him at Melbourne Airport and was later told by customs officials that it was about to be cancelled.
Last year Wikileaks published a confidential Australian blacklist of websites to be banned under the government's proposed internet filter.

US-Behörde soll Ölbohrungen illegal genehmigt haben
Haben staatliche Aufseher in den USA Gesetze missachtet, um Ölgiganten zu schonen? Bohrungen wurden genehmigt, ohne Umweltzulassungen einzuholen - auch an der "Deepwater Horizon", berichten US-Zeitungen und zitieren Forscher, denen zufolge gerade weit mehr Öl ins Meer gelangt als bekannt.

Anti-Piracy Group Says: 'Child Porn Is Great' Since It Gets Politicians To Block File Sharing Sites
For many years, we've seen the entertainment industry make totally bogus and unsubstantiated claims about file sharing sites being hotbeds of child pornography in an effort to get them to regulate or shut down those services. Of course, the actual evidence shows that file sharing porn is no worse than what's on the wider internet. But that doesn't stop the entertainment industry from making such bogus claims -- and it seems like they're gleefully admitting it these days.

Bolivian president Evo Morales blames sex problems on chickens
Morales told an environmental conference on Tuesday that chicken producers inject the birds with female hormones, which he said can lead to baldness and sexual issues in men who eat the chicken.
There's an amount of confusion over exactly what Morales said, depending on which translation you read. The Associated Press reported that he said 'and because of that, men who consume them have problems being men' - suggesting he was talking about chickens causing impotence.

Wenn sie grinsen, sehen sich der Mr.-Bean-Darsteller Rowan Atkinson und der spanische Ministerpräsident Zapatero durchaus ähnlich. Das hat Hacker zu einem Scherz inspiriert: Sie platzierten Mr. Bean auf einer spanischen Web-Seite zur EU-Ratspräsidentschaft.

The Web site of the Spanish Presidency of the European Union was reportedly attacked by hackers on Monday and the welcome message from Spain’s Prime Minister replaced for a time with another from a man José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero has often been said to resemble: a friendly ‘Hi there’, from the British actor Rowan Atkinson in the part of Mr Bean.

Italian man sells voodoo dolls of Berlusconi
As if Italy's prime minister did not have enough worries already, he now risks a public needling after the launch of voodoo Silvio Berlusconi dolls covered with choice quotes from the gaffe-prone Italian prime minister.
An Italian businessman announced the sale of the dolls on the same day that a Mafia witness linked the 73-year-old Berlusconi to the Mafia and a corruption case against him resumed. Berlusconi has denied any wrongdoing.

Bundesregierung investiert 21 Millionen in Krypto-Handys
Drei deutsche Firmen dürfen sich über Großaufträge des Bundesbeschaffungsamts freuen: Secusmart, Rohde & Schwarz sowie T-Systems sind auserkoren, Bundesbeamte mit sicheren Handys auszustatten. Die drei Rahmenverträge umfassen "tausende Handys" und "mehrere Millionen Euro" – Genaueres verraten die Beteiligten offiziell nicht. Das Geld stammt aus dem Konjunkturprogramm II, in dem 500 Millionen Euro für Informationstechnik reserviert sind. Aus den Details der ersten (PDF-Datei) und zweiten (PDF-Datei) "Verteilrunde" geht hervor, dass insgesamt 21 Millionen Euro für Krypto-Handys fließen. Mehr als die Hälfte davon nimmt T-Systems für seine Simko2-Geräte ein.
