Circus to feature banned smoking act and dwarf pulling hoover with his penis
A CIRCUS sideshow act banned elsewhere in the country has been given the green light by East Lindsey District Council.
Kings Lynn Borough Council has previously banned a performer from the Circus of Horrors from smoking on stage – using her feet.
The performer's act also consists of firing a bow and arrow with her feet.

Nach Vertrauensvotum: Proteste gegen Berlusconi eskalieren
„Wenn die Regierung nicht stürzt, ist der Teufel los.“ Demonstranten, die gegen die Unireform der Regierung auf die Straße gingen, hatten schon vor den Vertrauensvoten gegen Italiens Ministerpräsident Berlusconi vor weiteren Protesten gewarnt. Nach Berlusconis Abstimmungserfolg im Senat und im Abgeordnetenhaus eskalierten die Proteste. In Rom kam es zu gewaltsamen Auseinandersetzungen zwischen Demonstranten und der Polizei.

Vatican Bank mired in laundering scandal
This is no ordinary bank: The ATMs are in Latin. Priests use a private entrance. A life-size portrait of Pope Benedict XVI hangs on the wall.
Nevertheless, the Institute for Religious Works is a bank, and it's under harsh new scrutiny in a case involving money-laundering allegations that led police to seize euro23 million ($30 million) in Vatican assets in September. Critics say the case shows that the "Vatican Bank" has never shed its penchant for secrecy and scandal.
The Vatican calls the seizure of assets a "misunderstanding" and expresses optimism it will be quickly cleared up. But court documents show that prosecutors say the Vatican Bank deliberately flouted anti-laundering laws "with the aim of hiding the ownership, destination and origin of the capital." The documents also reveal investigators' suspicions that clergy may have acted as fronts for corrupt businessmen and Mafia.

Iceland may ban MasterCard, Visa over WikiLeaks censorship
Credit card companies that prevented card-holders from donating money to the secrets outlet WikiLeaks could have their operating licenses taken away in Iceland, according to members of the Icelandic Parliamentary General Committee.
Representatives from Mastercard and Visa were called before the committee Sunday to discuss their refusal to process donations to the website, reports Reykjavik Grapevine.

Peinliche Suche nach der richtigen Klage
In Großbritannien wartet Julian Assange auf seine Auslieferung an Schweden, US-Justizminister Eric Holder will ihn am liebsten selbst vor Gericht bringen. Es gibt dabei nur ein Problem: Es existiert kein passendes Gesetz, gegen das der WikiLeaks-Gründer verstoßen hätte - noch nicht.
"Was nicht passt, wird passend gemacht" ist der Titel einer populären deutschen Komödie und Ausdruck einer ausgeprägten Machermentalität. In den Vereinigten Staaten läuft gerade eine lebhafte Debatte darüber, ob eine derartige Denke angebracht ist, wenn es um so sensible Themen wie den Schutz von Amerikas Geheimnissen und Sicherheitsinteressen geht, aber auch die Meinungs- und Publikationsfreiheit. Anstoß ist, wie könnte es anders sein, die Debatte um WikiLeaks und dessen Gründer Julian Assange.

Berlusconi warns of crisis ahead of crucial vote
Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi told members of parliament they risked plunging Italy into the middle of the euro zone's debt crisis if they voted against him in a no-confidence vote due on Tuesday.
Speaking in the Senate a day before a showdown that could force him from office and trigger early elections, Berlusconi said his government had kept Italy out of the turmoil but that the threat of instability remained.

Diplomaten mosern über Österreichs Politiker
"Frustriert", "extrem enttäuscht", "besorgt" - so äußern sich US-Diplomaten über Österreichs Politiker. Das geht aus den Botschaftsdepeschen hervor, die dem SPIEGEL vorliegen.
* Über Bundeskanzler Werner Faymann schreiben sie: "Es ist klar geworden, dass Faymann kein persönliches Interesse an Außenpolitik hat."
* Außenminister Michael Spindelegger sei "weitgehend darauf konzentriert, das Vordringen der österreichischen Wirtschaft" zu befördern.
* Und Verteidigungsminister Norbert Darabos sei nicht nur "uninteressiert an Außen- und internationaler Sicherheitspolitik", sondern dazu noch "offen ablehnend gegenüber Plänen, österreichische Truppen auf gefährliche Einsätze ins Ausland zu schicken".

Wegen deren Treuhänderschaft für ein korruptionsumwittertes Gasgeschäft des russisch-ukrainischen Joint-Ventures RosUkrEnergo müssen zwei Vertreter der Raiffeisen Bank 2006 der US-Botschaft Rede und Antwort stehen. Dabei geben die beiden Manager laut dem Bericht an, dass "hochrangige ukrainische und russische Regierungsvertreter, darunter die Präsidenten Putin und Juschtschenko, von allen Einzelheiten hinter dem RUE-Gasdeal Kenntnis hatten". Der US-Botschafter kritisiert die Rolle der Österreicher in dem Geschäft: "Es fällt schwer, nicht zu vermuten, dass die Treuhänderschaft nicht einfach ein Feigenblatt ist für ein unappetitliches Arrangement."
Insgesamt bescheinigen die US-Diplomaten ihrem Gastland eine "Kluft zwischen dem Bild, das Österreich sich selbst von seiner Rolle in der Welt macht, und seiner tatsächlichen, zunehmend bescheidenen Leistung".

Palin: Hunt Assange Like Bin Laden
The former governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, has launched an attack on the White House for “incompetent handling of this whole fiasco”.
The fiasco she is referring to concerns the founder of WikiLeaks, Julian Assange, who released top secret diplomatic documents online. A criminal investigation has been launched to see if Assange is to be charged under the U.S. Espionage Act.
After the news was heard, Sarah Palin launched an attack on Assange using the social network, Facebook, to vent her anger. “Assange is not a journalist,’” she said, “any more than the ‘editor’ of al Qaeda’s new English-language magazine Inspire is a ‘journalist’. [...] He is an anti-American operative with blood on his hands.”

Wikileaks No Excuse for Violent Assault
The virtues Wikileaks should not obscure a just and prompt handling of the sexual allegations against Julian Assange.
The Swedish Prosecution Authority has been abusively delinquent in advancing a case against Julian Assange for sexual offenses. Presume him innocent until proven guilty.
Assange's claims of consensual sex ring hollow for they are habitually used by offenders to excuse their aggression against sexual victims. So too for the Swedish Prosecution Authority's delinquency in prompt justice and smear campaign of Assange which is an assault of the powerful against the weak.

Berlusconi statue gets a new penis
A Roman statue of Mars displayed in Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's office has been restored -- with a new penis added on, under specific orders from the Italian leader who has been mired in a series of sex scandals.
The 2nd-century marble statue of the Roman god of war and Venus, goddess of love and beauty, was fixed for 70,000 euros, without respecting traditional restoration techniques, La Repubblica daily said.

Ex-Ministerin Dati verwechselt Inflation mit Fellatio
Ein Interviewmitschnitt von Frankreichs glamouröser Ex-Ministerin Rachida Dati sorgt in Frankreich für Heiterkeit. Die ehemalige Justizministerin hat sich einen peinlichen Versprecher geleistet und Inflation mit Fellatio, einer Form von oralem Geschlechtsverkehr, verwechselt.
Die Europaabgeordnete ließ sich über ausländische Investmentfonds aus und bemerkte dann: „Wenn ich sehe, dass manche von ihnen eine Rentabilität von 20 bis 25 Prozent fordern, und das bei einer mickrigen Fellatio ...“ Dati fiel ihr Versprecher zunächst nicht auf. Auch die Journalistin, die sie gestern für den Sender Canal+ interviewte, zeigte keine Regung.
