400-pound pumpkin stolen from driveway
The following information was obtained from Huntington Police Department records:
LARCENY: A Huntington man reported that someone stole a 400-pound pumpkin from his Parkway Drive driveway Monday night. The pumpkin is approximately three feet by five feet, is light orange and has the words "Paul" and "422" written on it. The police department issued a lookout to all patrols. The value of the pumpkin is estimated to be $105.

Geographic profiling, pioneered more than a decade ago by former Vancouver Police detective Kim Rossmo, works on the theory that except for a small buffer zone around their homes, criminals tend to hunt victims in areas they are familiar with.

Police are sabotaging video cameras
Mechanics working for the Eugene Police Department found themselves repairing video cameras on patrol cars over and over again - and believed the officers were sabotaging the equipment to avoid oversight of their work, internal e-mails show. The e-mail and other internal documents indicate that several city employees most familiar with the video systems assumed that the $90,000 program to put a camera in about two dozen cars failed, at least in part, because of tampering by officers.

Moon dust stolen from Swedish museum
Four grains of moon dust brought to Earth by the first manned lunar mission were stolen from a space exhibit in Sweden, a museum official said Saturday. The dust was collected by astronauts during the Apollo 11 mission in 1969 and presented to Sweden as a gift by President Nixon a year later.

Man killed when 2000lb tomato paste exploded
A 42-year-old man was killed Sunday afternoon during an industrial accident at Rio Bravo Tomato Co. on Highway 58, west of Interstate 5. The employee, Jesus Gabriel Meza of Wasco, was cleaning up a tomato-paste spill when a crate containing a sealed bag with 3,000 pounds of tomato paste exploded, according to the Kern County Sheriff's Department coroner's division.
