Videotape of Diana Ross December DUI
arrest released by Tucson police Friday night shows an officer responding to her concerns over public disclosure of the incident and the singer shivering from the cold.
All of Ross' statements were removed from the 42-minute tape, under a court order that allowed it to be screened by her lawyers before being made public. It was released to 22 media organizations, some of which staked out police headquarters for several hours waiting for the tape.

84-year-old woman shoots son-in-law
An 84-year-old woman shot her son-in-law dead from an eighth-of-a-mile away during a family feud over a patch of rural Arkansas land that she insisted was hers, prosecutors say.
Police say Gertrude Raines shot Charles Davis, 62, with a .22-caliber rifle from 220 yards away. Authorities say the rifle did not have a scope.

Inspector Craig Menzies of Grampian Police said: "One climber was swept away and was carried around 800 metres. He came to rest on the surface of the snow. He was not immediately found but did not require to be dug out from the snow.
"It was quite a long way. It is believed he suffered broken ribs and bruising. He’s a lucky man," he added.

Fight with computer brings SWAT team
It turned out that the man was simply upset at his computer — which he had called a "bitch" he "wanted to kill," police said — and the gun was a plastic pellet gun, not the .45-caliber automatic handgun it was made to resemble.
"It was alarming and concerning and expensive for us, but the man's conduct didn't warrant any criminal charges," Deputy Police Chief Dave Hayes said.

Neuen Zündstoff für die öffentliche Diskussion der verschärften Telefonüberwachung dürfte ein TV-Beitrag liefern. Wie das ARD-Magazin Kontraste gegenüber heise online bekannt gab, wolle man in einem heute Abend um 21:45 Uhr ausgestrahlten Beitrag auf gravierende Rechtsverstöße bei Lauschangriffen hinweisen. Das Magazin zitiert eine rechtswissenschaftliche Studie über 500 überwachte Telefongespräche.

And a Tennessee Highway Patrol car's video tape of the whole incident, which happened on Interstate 40 at S. Jefferson about 5 p.m. Jan. 1, shows that it was only three seconds after the dog hopped out of the car before Officer Eric Hall killed the dog with his shotgun.

Answering Machine Joke Triggers Terror Raid
An anti-terrorism squad raided the home of a Danish family after mistaking a light-hearted message on their answering machine for a hostage alert.
"We have been taken hostage by two children. Hurry. Help us after the beep. Now!" the Danish daily Politiken quoted the message as saying on Monday.
But police in the Copenhagen suburb of Gladsaxe and worried friends, who alerted the authorities on Saturday, thought the message said: "We have been taken hostage WITH two children."

Murder victim in Camden flat identified by breast implants
A woman whose torso was found in the London flat of a double murder suspect has been identified as a 30-year-old prostitute from Nottinghamshire, it emerged yesterday.
The woman, who has not been named, lived in London and had not been reported missing before some of her remains were discovered in the home of Tony Hardy, the 51-year-old arrested on Thursday night following a two-day hunt.
