Bear's hospital visit turns fatal
A black bear ended up with more than a sore head when it activated automatic doors and wandered into a US hospital.
Startled doctors, nurses and patients saw the 345lb (156kg) animal walking through the emergency ward and into an office full of computers.

Teenager causes car-jet crash
Two Texas teenagers escaped serious injury Tuesday in a bizarre car-plane crash that caused an estimated $1 million damage to a private jet owned by Constellation Brands wine company.
The accident occurred when 33-year-old Antoinette Y. Bailey of Manorville, Suffolk County, left her niece, Kayla Wiltz, 13, of Houston, and a friend, Annessa John, 13, of Missouri City, Texas, in a car while she went into the office at the Penn Yan Airport shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday, said Yates County Sheriff's Investigator Marty Reynolds.

Police chief's home burgled as he gave crime talk
A police chief's home was burgled while he was giving a talk on crime prevention.
Superintendent Peter West had to dash from the meeting and drive home to comfort his wife Pauline in Folkestone, Kent.
She discovered raiders had grabbed jewellery and personal items from their house.

Sweeping stun guns to target crowds
Weapons that can incapacitate crowds of people by sweeping a lightning-like beam of electricity across them are being readied for sale to military and police forces in the US and Europe.
At present, commercial stun guns target one person at a time, and work only at close quarters. The new breed of non-lethal weapons can be used on many people at once and operate over far greater distances.

Überwachungskamera filmte Mann mit Rad, auf dem Bombe deponiert war
Wie bereits mehrfach berichtet wurde, gab es vor einer Woche im Kölner Stadtteil Mülheim eine Bombenexplosion. Der Täter hatte den Sprengsatz auf einem Fahrrad deponiert. Ein Mann wurde mit genau diesem Gefährt von einer Überwachungskamera gefilmt.

Diebe mähen Gras, dann klauen sie es
Eigentlich sollte sich ein Bauer im Ort Kreuztal im Bundesland Nordrhein-Westfalen freuen, denn seine ganze Grasfläche wurde abgesichelt - allerdings unfreiwillig.
1.000 Quadratmeter Heu wurden von diebischen 'Grasliebhabern' einfach entwendet. Der Mann erstattete sofort bei der örtlichen Polizei Anzeige.

A TEENAGE train buff staged his own version of the Great Train Robbery when he was caught trying to steal a Melbourne commuter train while dressed as a Connex driver and carrying an official set of keys.
The elaborate heist failed only because alert staff went to investigate why the locomotive's engine was running.

Wet wedding for Swiss couple
An accident poured cold water over a weekend wedding party on a Swiss lake when a boat carrying the bride and groom and their 18 guests turned turtle and sank, Swiss police said Sunday, adding that all members of the party were safe and sound.
