Police fear serial hammer killer stalks London
Police are investigating whether a serial hammer killer is targeting women in London after a French woman was bludgeoned to death in circumstances similar to other attacks.
Emilie Delagrange, 22, was found with a serious head injury lying near a cricket pitch in the southwest suburb of Twickenham on Thursday night. She died shortly afterwards.

Former wrestler arrested for prostitution ring
Former professional wrestler Harrison "Hardbody" Norris has been arrested on charges he bailed women out of jail and then forced them into prostitution.
The wrestler, whose real name is Norris Harrison Jr., was with World Championship Wrestling from 1994 to 1999. He was arrested Wednesday on three charges of false imprisonment.

Edvard Munch's "The Scream" stolen from museum
The famous Edvard Munch painting "The Scream," along with "Madonna," was stolen from Oslo's Munch museum by robbers wielding guns. The thieves took the paintings and got away in a waiting car.

Ex-Cop Fools Speeders With Hair Dryer
Former police chief Derek Hill, 75, has had it with speeding motorists speeding down a street he lives on. With a speed limit of 30 mph, drivers are racing down the street doing 70 mph.
After calls to police, which got him nowhere, Hill decided to fool speeders by using his wife's hair dryer as a radar gun. Motorists, not knowing whether the device is a real radar gun or not, are fooled into slowing down.

Wrongfully convicted man free after 40 years behind bars
A 76-year-old man who spent nearly every day of the last four decades in prison walked free after a judge found that deputies extracted his confession to a 1962 robbery by crushing his fingers between cell bars.
After walking out of the Angelina County jail Tuesday with his wife, Robert Carroll Coney said he was not bitter.
"I'm going to try to pick up the pieces," Coney said. "If I was angry, what could I do about it?"

Norwegian police officer fights off bird
It was one of the toughest fights Jorun Lyngstad had experienced during her time as a Norwegian police officer. A wood grouse, Europe's biggest game bird, attacked Lyngstad during a Wednesday bike ride in the woods, ramming the off-duty officer from the side and sending her flying through the air, local media reported.
"I suspect this violent perpetrator has, to put it mildly, a strained relationship with the law," Lyngstad, 37, told the newspaper Romsdals Budstikke.

Police Officers Disciplined For Using Taser on Grandmother
Police in Kansas City, Missouri have disciplined two officers and changed department policy on use of their Taser guns after a 66-year old grandmother was shocked by one during an arrest in which she honked her car horn at a police car.

Cops, Led by Odor, Find 145 Cats at House
Police, led by an unusual odor, have uncovered nearly 150 cats at a south Lincoln home. Police said neighbors had reported smelling a urine odor coming from the house, sometimes from all the way down the block.
When authorities and animal control officers investigated Tuesday night, they found 145 cats all in 12-by-14-foot room, police said.

Man runs out of interview to chase thief
One guy knows how to make a first impression. He bolted from his job interview to chase a woman stealing his pickup, with his sleeping six-month-old daughter inside.
The man, who hasn't been named, was applying for a cook's job at Big Nick's Pizza and Pasta in Tacoma, Washington. Owners John Delgado and Nick Delin were talking to him when he flew out the door.

Canadian who jumped into pool gets five months in prison, appeals decision
The Canadian who caused a furor by jumping into an Olympic swimming pool was released Wednesday after paying a fine of 2,000 euros ($3,225 Cdn).
Convicted of interrupting the Olympics, Ron Bensimhon was actually sentenced to five months in prison, but the sentence was dropped in place of the fine.

Boy dies in fridge during heatwave
A FIVE-year-old boy was electrocuted in a refrigerator at the family home in Qena, Upper Egypt, after climbing inside to escape from the heatwave raging in the region, police reported.

Australian fined for biting off mouse's tail to win pub competition
A remorseful man was shocked to learn he had bitten the tail off a live mouse while drunk to win a pub competition, a court was told Tuesday. Competition organizers gave McGee a drinks voucher for 100 Australian dollars ($95) before the competition started and he downed bourbon and beer for six hours before competing.
