Transvestite potter wins Turner
Pottery artist Grayson Perry, who creates vases depicting subjects like death and child abuse, has won this year's Turner Prize.
Perry accepted the award in a dress, as his female alter-ego Claire, thanked his wife and said he was "stunned".

Nach dem ersten Blizzard in diesem Winter versinkt New York im Schnee. Auf den Flughäfen La Guardia, Kennedy und Newark mussten ebenso wie in Boston mehrere hundert Flüge gestrichen werden. Zahllose Veranstaltungen wurden abgesagt.

Stylist's Hair Catches Fire at Gas Pump
A hair stylist was pumping gas into her car when her hair burst into flames.
"That scared me to death," said stylist Traci Marshall.
The fire was probably caused by static electricity from Marshall's hair rubbing against her clothes, said her husband, Camilla firefighter Lt. Bill Marshall.

Ancient fossil penis discovered
Scientists have identified the oldest male fossil animal yet discovered. It is an ocean-dwelling creature from 425-million-year-old rocks in the UK.
Unusually, its soft parts are well preserved as well as its hard shell. It has limbs for swimming and feeding.

Plan for New Year's Eve Fireworks Revealed
The nation's biggest party takes place every New Year's Eve in Las Vegas. And it will be here before you know it.
Neon City is pulling out all the stops for 2004. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority wants to top last year's fireworks show. This year, they're promising a longer and more dramatic.

IT had sued Starwood Asia Pacific Management for US$54.9 million ($94.4 million), but Asia Hotel Investments ended up being awarded $10 by the High Court of Singapore.

NO PEAKING WHILE LEAKING
A glass-walled toilet that allows the user to watch the world go by while they do their business has opened outside the Tate Gallery.
Although those using the loo can look out, their modesty is preserved because the walls are made up of a one-way mirror.
