Annual Meeting 2004 WEF

"Partnering for Security and Prosperity" Davos, Switzerland, 21-25 January

There can be no prosperity without security, and security cannot be achieved in the absence of prosperity. Creating active partnerships is critical to ensure both.

While business is an engine of global growth, it requires an enabling environment: physical and political security and macroeconomic stability are two indispensable ingredients for business to fulfil its role in society.

Refrigerator Raider

Cleaning out the fridge can be fun and hazardous to your health It's early in the morning. Before work. Pre-shower. So you're pretty sure that ripe scent tickling your olfactories as you head into the kitchen is you. You grab a box of your favorite childhood cereal, then head to the fridge to get the milk. The scent grows stronger, and you assume the breeze created when you opened the fridge simply wafted your morning staleness toward your nostrils.

Over a half century of Rudolph the Red-nosed Pumping Unit

It all started when Montgomery Ward department stores published a little Christmas poem booklet in 1939 about a lonely reindeer with a shiny red nose who was chosen by Santa to light the way for his reindeer one foggy Christmas eve. The booklets were given to children by the Montgomery Ward Santas and were so popular they continued to be given away during the WWII years. But the little story reached new heights in 1949 when the song, "Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer," sung by Gene Autrey, swept the country.

Top 10: Things You Never Want Her To Say

There are certain things a man never wants to hear from his lady. "Let's go shopping" is one of them, as those words usually herald a whole afternoon wasted near the women's fitting rooms. "You're acting like your father" is another, much harsher statement. Even worse, "You're acting like my father"; that one just hurts.
