Origamic architecture and Escher


Some say that Origamic Architecture is a part of Origami and some say it is not. So one is divided about this issue. This confusion arises because the folding part is essential in making an Origamic Architecture card; by folding, one models a card into shape. However, when a card is made it is primarily done by cutting. Masahiro Chatani consequently calls his books Origamic Architecture.

Coca-Cola rolls out lime-flavored Diet Coke and pushes recipes for its products. Coca-Cola Co. made two moves this week to boost sagging soda sales in the United States.

In the more major of the moves, the company rolled out a lime-flavored version of its popular Diet Coke drink in stores throughout the nation.

Niue is dead! Long live .nu!


The tiny island of Niue was all but wiped off the map at the end of last week when cyclone Heta sent 300kph winds and 20-metre waves smashing into a population of just 1,200 people.

Now, with many islanders deciding to move to nearby New Zealand, there is a question over Niue’s independence, granted in 1974 when the population was closer to 5,000. It is expected that only 500 people will remain.

Japan invents the gadget of your dreams


A Japanese company has invented a product which, it says, allows owners to create their own dreams.

Prospective dreamers are asked to look at a photo of what they would like to dream about and then record a story line into the Yumemi Kobo, or "dream workshop".

NEC's Card-Sized Mobile Phone


NEC Corp, in an interview with Nikkei BP's Beijing Bureau, has revealed the details of its credit card-sized, ultra-small mobile phone now being developed. Initially, the prototype of this small mobile phone, the "N900," was introduced on Oct 28, 2003 in an announcement in Shanghai of new products for the Chinese market.

Airline Passengers: Background Check


The U.S. government plans to push ahead this year with a vast computerized system to probe the backgrounds of all passengers boarding flights in the United States. The government will compel airlines to hand over all passenger records for scrutiny by U.S. officials and passengers will be scored with a number and a color that ranks their perceived security threat.

Cat and Bear Odd Couple Reunited in Zoo


Muschi, a small cat that formed an unlikely friendship with a half-ton bear called "mouse" in Berlin Zoo, has been reunited with her companion after pining outside the bear's cage for months, the zoo said Friday.

Muschi, which means "pussy," has been popular with zoo visitors ever since she appeared in the bear's enclosure three years ago.
