Pickled dragon mystery

A pickled "dragon" that looks as if it might once have flown around Harry Potter's Hogwarts has been found in a garage in Oxfordshire, England.

The baby dragon, in a sealed jar, was discovered with a metal tin containing paperwork in old-fashioned German of the 1890s.

Sperm whale explodes in Tainan City

Blood and guts of 17-meter long 50-ton mammal splatter sidewalks, automobiles parked nearby. A dead sperm whale being transported through Tainan City on its way to a research station suddenly exploded yesterday, splattering cars and shops with blood and guts.

Certified by authorities as the largest beached whale on record in Taiwan, the 17-meter 50-ton carcass was being transported by a flat-bed trailer-truck to a special research location after National Cheng Kung University officials and security guards refused to allow the whale on campus.

At Davos, A Conciliatory US Leaves Critics Wary

The World Economic Forum wound up on Sunday after five days of talks that featured the US efforts at conciliation and continued barbs at Washington’s tough line policies. Top US officials’ attempts to show a kinder, gentler face, left political leaders, especially those that have faced Washington’s wrath, wondering if US President George W Bush’s administration was seeking sincere reconciliation or if the change of tone was only a tactical posturing.

The merchants of COOL

FRONTLINE journeys into the world of the marketers of popular culture to teenagers. They spend their days sifting through reams of market research data. They conduct endless surveys and focus groups. They comb the streets, the schools, and the malls, hot on the trail of the 'next big thing' that will snare the attention of their prey-a market segment worth an estimated $300 billion a year. They are the merchants of cool: the creators and sellers of popular culture, who have made teens the hottest consumer demographic in America. But are these marketers merely reflecting a growing coarseness in teen culture, or have they helped create it? Are they simply reflecting teen desires or have they begun to manufacture those desires in a bid to secure this lucrative market? And have they gone too far in their attempts to reach the hearts-and wallets-of America's youth?"

Shit iam not young
Cheeky Chops

Jamie Oliver had long been thinking about helping unemployed young people by offering them a leg-up into the world of catering. 'Having not been the brightest banana in the bunch myself, I realised that my biggest weapon in life was the determination, enthusiasm, hands-on and "actions speak louder than words" approach my father taught me, and I wanted to get this across to others, especially those interested in food.' Jamie's ideas got whittled down to one main one: 'to train a team of unemployed kids with an interest and passion for food and to open a new first-class restaurant in London to be run by them.' And so, the charity Cheeky Chops was born.
