Born to Be Mild - the first road-worthy hydrogen-powered motorcycle

Jump on your bike, start the engine, throw a rev, and hear... silence? No, you haven’t gone deaf – you’ve traded your mighty Harley for the zero-cylinder ENV (yep, envy). Green vehicles are nothing new – the Prius and its kin have been quietly zipping along special commuter lanes for years – but engineers have largely dismissed an environmentally friendly two-wheeler as impractical. That was until Britain’s Intelligent Energy created the ENV, the first road-worthy hydrogen-powered motorcycle.

Underwear That's Fun to Wear

Every morning, I put on my boxers and feel like a robot going through the motions of life. Wake up, go shower, put on boxers, comb my hair and eat some cereal and go to the slave mill.

I would like my life to be a bit more colorful, filled with a bit more variety and excitement.

In City Ban, a Sign of Wealth and Its Discontents

Guangzhou, the chaotic export capital in southern China, appeared to hit a major Chinese milestone this month, becoming the country’s first city to reach a per capita income of $10,000 — more than five times the nationwide figure and a rough threshold for becoming a “developed” country.

But in a measure of just how problematic prosperity can be here, the city will institute a ban on motorcycles and motorized bicycles on Monday, hoping to quell a crime wave that has been building to more than 100,000 offenses a year.

The city has banned motorcycles, effective today.

Want an iPhone? Beware the iHandcuffs

STEVE JOBS, Apple’s showman nonpareil, provided the first public glimpse of the iPhone last week — gorgeous, feature-laden and pricey. While following the master magician’s gestures, it was easy to overlook a most disappointing aspect: like its slimmer iPod siblings, the iPhone’s music-playing function will be limited by factory-installed “crippleware.”

If “crippleware” seems an unduly harsh description, it balances the euphemistic names that the industry uses for copy protection. Apple officially calls its own standard “FairPlay,” but fair it is not.
