Tens of thousands of people have marched through Mexico City in a protest against the rising price of tortillas.

The price of the flat corn bread, the main source of calories for many poor Mexicans, recently rose by over 400%.

TomTom includes Trojans with satnav device


An "isolated, small number" of TomTom's GO 910 models produced in September and November may be infected with a virus, TomTom warned, following a report over the weekend that one of the company's satnav devices packaged two separate Trojans at no charge. They included the win32.Perlovga.A and TR/Drop.Small.qp Trojans, which were stowed away within the copy.exe and host.exe files.

A 20-year-old Tampa man is trying to figure out where a chuck of ice that fell on his car came from. The mystery ice plummeted from the sky yesterday morning, pushing in the roof on Andres Javage's 2000 Ford Mustang and blowing out the rear window.

You can't keep a good duck down


A duck has shocked vets by escaping death for a second time.

Vets said the duck needed surgery to the injuries to her wing, leg and beak.

During the operation her heart stopped prompting David Hale, a vet at a wildlife sanctury in Florida, to declare her officially dead.

However, after a few seconds the bird made a few movements.

Diamond District struggles to keep up


On a recent afternoon at the venerable Diamond Dealers Club, many of the chairs and long tables remained empty on the vast trading floor as a few dozen men haggled over precious stones.

The cafeteria's dining room had a ghost town feel and only a couple of men drank coffee at the food counter. Most of the hustle and bustle was happening in the club's synagogue and an area where retired members could play backgammon.

Queensland to drink waste water


People in the Australian state of Queensland will soon have to start drinking water containing recycled sewage, the state premier has warned.

Premier Peter Beattie said he had scrapped a referendum on the issue, because there was no longer a choice.
