Music file flaws could threaten traders
A security firm on Wednesday warned that people using Windows XP or popular music player WinAmp could fall prey to a vulnerability, enabling a modified music file to take control of a person's PC. Flaws in both pieces of software could introduce malicious MP3 or Windows Media files--which sound identical to unmodified music--into the file-swapping systems, said George Kurtz, CEO of Foundstone.

Self-Tuning Piano Set to Make Sweet Music
An inventor has developed a piano that can tune itself in 40 seconds and which will hit the market next year. Conventionally, pianos are tuned by manually adjusting the tension of the strings struck when a piano key is pressed. But Don Gilmore's invention warms the strings using an electric current to reduce an excess of tension deliberately built in when the piano leaves the factory.

Piano caught in rain may be damaged beyond repair
Philadelphia Orchestra musicians had to run offstage with their instruments after the fire safety sprinklers above the stage accidentally went off during a late-morning rehearsal in Verizon Hall on Tuesday.
