Happy birthday Jimmy Page
Jimmy Page 's incredible career spans four decades, appearing on an innumerable list of recordings. Best known for his trademark Les Pauls, double-neck guitar and riff-master deluxe, his contributions to rock history are nearly unmatched. He first picked up a guitar as a child, curiously plucking away on a Spanish acoustic given to the family. Soon after, Page became entranced with rock and roll, inspired by Elvis Presley's "Baby, Let's Play House". The rest is history...

Cambodians Jail Glam Rocker For Alleged Sex Offenses
Glam rocker Gary Glitter is in trouble with authorities again.
Gary GlitterThe London Daily Standard reports Glitter was in prison in Cambodia for four days over the Christmas holiday on suspicion of alleged sex offenses.
A spokesman for the Anti Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Department tells the paper Glitter -- whose real name is Paul Francis Gadd -- was deported after an agreement was reached between government officials in Cambodia and Britain.

Album Sales Down for Second Straight Year
In more bad news for the music industry, album sales declined for the second straight year in 2002, down 10.7 percent from the previous year.
Nielsen SoundScan reported this week that 2002 album sales fell from 763 million in 2001 to 681 million. Overall music sales in 2001 had been down 5 percent — the first decline since SoundScan began tracking music sales in 1991.

Die Hamburger Oper feiert ihren 325. Geburtstag. Das von kunstliebenden hanseatischen Kaufleuten ins Leben gerufene Theater war das erste öffentliche Opernhaus Deutschlands. Zwischen Jungfernstieg und Colonnaden erstreckte sich der Holzbau des italienischen Baumeisters Sartorio, der am 2. Januar 1678 mit dem Singspiel "Adam und Eva" eröffnet wurde. Schon damals war das Programm vielfältig, denn an dem Theater wurde nicht nur gesungen, sondern auch getanzt.

Welcome to Ultimate '80s Songs!
Originally inspired on a long car trip during which my husband and I named the songs that would be on the ideal compilation CD, this list now consists of songs that I feel best capture the spirit of the 1980s (and a few from outside the 80s). This means it's subjective - what was popular in the eighties for me may not have been for you.

While performing on stage at Sting reggae concert at the Jamworld entertainment complex in Portmore, St Catherine Ninja Man, whose real name is Desmond Ballentine, called Adams on stage in a haranguing spiel and handed over the Glock semi-automatic pistol with four bullets in its magazine.

Lost Marley tape fetches $46,000
RARE audio tape of reggae legend Bob Marley in an informal jam session was sold by Christie's auction house today for more than $US26,000 ($A46,066), Christie's said. In 1968 Marley met with New York composer Jimmy Norman, and the two recorded a 24-minute cassette tape in an apartment in the Bronx, New York, that features eight songs with semi-professional equipment.
