Moroccan heavy metal fans jailed
More than a dozen heavy metal musicians and fans have been jailed in Casablanca for moral and religious crimes, local media reported.
The 14 men, all between the ages of 22 and 35, were convicted of "acts capable of undermining the faith of a Muslim" and "possessing objects which infringe morals".
Their sentences of between one month and one year followed newspaper pieces which dubbed them "Satanists" involved in international devil-worship.

Music Labels Set to Bite the Apple
Apple Computer is close to inking a deal with the major record labels for a fee-based music subscription services for users of its Mac OS, a somewhat surprising move from a company that has heavily hyped the operating system's "rip, mix, burn" capabilities.
Apple officials refused to comment on rumbles throughout the industry that its entry into the business would come within weeks but analysts with knowledge of the plans say the service will run on the Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) technology, which is a key feature within the MPEG-4 standard.

Singer's Breast Implants Heat Reform Debate
A popular German singer who had breast implants paid for by health insurers has sparked a debate about what is wrong with country's generous but cash-strapped welfare system. Pop singer Juliette said she had an operation to enlarge her breasts three years ago, and her health insurance paid the bill, raising eyebrows about the extensive treatment Germans receive at a time when insurers are facing huge deficits.
"Yes, I have new breasts," the 22-year-old told Bild daily. "I had done ballet for several years and that's why I had small breasts. That was a burden. I wanted breasts that fit my body."

Die Musik diente den Memetikern wie Dawkins oder Blackmore schon immer als Beispiel. Melodiefragmente vermehren sich eigenständig durch Nachsingen und überleben damit oft Jahrhunderte . Klassisch wird hier die Schicksalssymphonie von Beethoven (Tatattam), die Kleine Nachtmusik von Mozart oder der Trauermarsch von Chopin angeführt. Die ersten Formen der Meme wurden bei Vögeln beobachtet, sie imitieren das Gezwitscher ihres Nachbarn und damit verbreiten sich bestimmte Tonfolgen bis an geografische Grenzen. Bei den Menschen fressen sich solche Ohrwürmer ebenfalls durch die Bevölkerung. Jeder kennt Volks- und Kirchenlieder, aber keiner weiß, woher sie kommen. Wissenschaftler zerbrechen sich über diese Frage oft lange den Kopf, recherchieren und kommen zu einem Ergebnis. Hinterher sind sie sich aber immer noch nicht sicher, ob derjenige, den sie als Komponisten vermuten, doch nicht jemand ist, der das Lied von jemand anderem hat.

Busta Rhymes' SUV shot up outside record office
Police were searching Monday for the person who sprayed bullets into Busta Rhymes' sport utility vehicle a few minutes after the rapper left it parked on a Manhattan street.
The shooting happened Friday night outside Violator Records and Violator Management, which represents Rhymes, 50 Cent, Missy Elliott and other recording stars. It was the second time in a month that Violator's offices were the scene of gunfire.
No one was injured, said Sgt. Michael Wysokowski, a police spokesman. "It's not known if (Rhymes) was the intended target."

EMI an Warner Music interessiert
AOL Time Warner führt Gespräche über den Verkauf einer Mehrheitsbeteiligung an der Musiksparte Warner Music an die britische EMI-Group. Eine Transaktion könnte wahrscheinlich einen Wert von drei bis vier Milliarden US-Dollar haben.
Die Gespräche seien in einem frühen Stadium und ein Vereinbarung stehe nicht unmittelbar bevor, berichtete das "Wall Street Journal" am Montag in seiner Onlineausgabe. Die Firmen nahmen nach Angaben der Zeitung keine Stellung.
