Neues "The Who"-Album
Nach 22 Jahren abseits des Showbusiness plant die britische Band 'The Who' ein neues Album. Die Songs sollen sich mit dem Thema 'Älterwerden' beschäftigen.
Auf der vor kurzem erschienenen Best-Of-CD ist bereits eines dieser Lieder zu hören. Der Song 'Old Red Wine' ist dem verstorbenen Bassisten der Band, John Entwistle, gewidmet, der zu Lebzeiten gerne Rotwein trank.

Ice-T to produce Hasselhoff rap album
Ice-T is to produce David Hasselhoff's first hip-hop album.
The pair are neighbours in Los Angeles and are said to have struck up a close friendship.

Prince's CD distribution strategy is working
Prince's idea to include his new CD "Musicology" as part of his concert ticket price may be the beginning of a music industry revolution.
Since the album's release April 20, "Musicology" CDs handed out at shows have been included in SoundScan numbers. In the album's first week of release, of the 191,275 copies sold, only 12,605 were from ticket sales. In total, the tour has about 40 shows in arenas with capacities of 17,000-20,000. Prince's manager-attorney Londell McMillan says Prince will play and give out CDs to as many as 1.5 million fans during the tour.

Der 1969 gestorbene Rolling-Stones-Gitarrist Brian Jones ist nach Erkenntnissen eines britischen Filmemachers damals nicht verunglückt, sondern ermordet worden. Täter sei der 1993 an Krebs gestorbene Bauarbeiter Frank Thorogood gewesen, behauptet der Journalist Stephen Woolley in einem Film, den er diese Woche beim Festival in Cannes vorstellte.

Arabian Music Awards: Monströses Desaster
Ein «arabischer Grammy» sollte es werden, doch die Verleihung der Arabian Music Awards geriet am Samstagabend zum Desaster.
Nur wenige der Nominierten erschienen, die Veranstaltung begann nach Mitternacht mit zweieinhalb Stunden Verspätung und dann fielen auch noch die Moderations-Mikrofone mehrfach aus.
Viele Zuschauer, die umgerechnet bis zu 1700 Franken für die Karten bezahlt hatten, verliessen die Verleihung vorzeitig. Einige Künstler taten es ihnen gleich und liessen ihre Auszeichnungen zurück.
