US-Gitarrist Johnny Ramone gestorben
Johnny Ramone, Gitarrist und Mitgründer der US-Punkband The Ramones, ist im Alter von 55 Jahren gestorben. Nach Angaben seines Agenten erlag der Musiker gestern in seinem Haus in Los Angeles den Folgen seiner Krebserkrankung. Ramone litt seit fünf Jahren an Prostatakrebs. Er starb im Schlaf, umgeben von seiner Familie und Freunden wie Eddie Vedder, Lisa Marie Presley und Pete Yorn.

Punk Legend Johnny Ramone Dies At 55
Johnny Ramone, the lead guitarist with the influential U.S. punk rock band the Ramones, died on Wednesday after a five-year battle with prostate cancer, a long-time associate told Reuters.
Ramone, 55, who was born John Cummings, died in his sleep at his Los Angeles home on Wednesday afternoon, said Arturo Vega, the Ramones' creative director.

U2 to drop ‘Atomic Bomb’ in November
Rock band U2 have announced that their new album will be released in November, and that it’s called “How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb”. Their first single from the album, “Vertigo” will hit radio playlists later this month.

Vintage albums by bad, obscure band are selling for big bucks
You have probably never heard of a band called the Electras. But their vintage LP's are now going for big bucks. It's all because of the bass player, a young guy by the name of John Kerry.
The Electras recorded just one album in 1961, when Kerry was at a New Hampshire boarding school. One copy of the LP recently sold for about $2,500.

Music Fans, Beware the Big Bass
Blasting music can be hard on the ears and the neighbors, and now researchers say it can also pack enough punch to collapse a lung.
Reporting in the medical journal Thorax, they describe the cases of four young men who suffered a lung collapse -- technically called pneumothorax -- that appeared to be triggered by loud music. Three of the men were at a concert or club when the pneumothorax occurred, while the fourth was in his car, which was outfitted with a 1,000-watt bass box because he "liked to listen to loud music."

I went to Berlin and hopped a float at the Love Parade to celebrate life. Half an hour later, I was pretty sure I was about to watch someone careen to his death.
That year, there were more than a million people in attendance at the annual, daylong, techno- and trance-fueled music parade, which honors peace and diversity and offers a goodly dose of sex and skin. For the moment, though, it was all about this one kid in his early 20s.

Coiner of 'Elvis has left the building' dies
Al Dvorin, the concert announcer who made famous the phrase "Elvis has left the building," was killed in an auto accident in California. He was 81.
Dvorin was thrown from the car he was riding in Sunday after it swerved off a desert road near Ivanpah, the California Highway Patrol said.

Jimmy Page first in Brits' Walk of Fame
Jimmy Page hasn't yet made it up the stairway to heaven, but he's the first to reach the new British Walk of Fame, reports ABC News.
The former Led Zeppelin guitarist cast his handprints in cement Monday as the first music legend featured on London's response to the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
