Che Guevara CD case pulled from shelves
Target Corp said on Friday it had pulled a CD carrying case bearing Ernesto "Che" Guevara's image after an outcry by critics who label the Marxist revolutionary a murderer and totalitarian symbol.
Target had touted a music disc carrying case for Che admirers emblazoned with the Argentine-born guerrilla's iconic 1960 portrait by Alberto Diaz, or "Korda." A set of small earphones was superimposed on the image, suggesting he was tuned in to an iPod or other music player.

Christmas 2006
364 days a year this blog is dedicated to music I love, artists that should be heard, and songs to make you sing/dance/cry/make love (delete as the mood fits)… Christmas Day however is a very very special day. Its a day when we listen to music we’d rather die than hear for the other 364 days, but nevertheless I’ve hunted high and low (ie, blew some dust off the CD rack) to find a few truly great xmas tracks (and some others that at least don’t make you want to put those lovely new socks over your ears).

David Bowie and Bing Crosby Christmas Duet
One of the most successful duets in Christmas music history — and surely the weirdest — might never have happened if it weren't for some last-minute musical surgery. David Bowie thought "The Little Drummer Boy" was all wrong for him. So when the producers of Bing Crosby's Christmas TV special asked Bowie to sing it in 1977, he refused.

FBI releases final John Lennon files
The FBI has released its final surveillance documents on John Lennon to a university historian who has waged a 25-year legal battle to obtain the secret files.
The 10 pages contain new details about Lennon's ties to leftist and anti-war groups in London in the early 1970s, but nothing indicating government officials considered the former Beatle a serious threat, historian Jon Wiener told the Los Angeles Times in Wednesday's editions.

Ambient Music Guide
This is the main section of AmbientMusicGuide.com, an ever growing selection of what I consider the best album releases of the last 40 years.
The year given after each album title refers to the year of that recording's original release, regardless of the format (LP, CD) on which it first appeared.
The record label listed after each album refers to the most recent known CD releases. Where known labels for a particular title differ between North America, Europe/UK and other territories, those are also sometimes included.

EMI Music starts selling DRM-free music
Yahoo Music is selling the latest single from piano-playing songstress Norah Jones, along with a pair of tracks from Christian rockers Reliant K, in the MP3 format. Priced at 99¢ like the rest of the songs available from Yahoo Music (and just about every other US download site north of Wal-Mart), the three songs mark another timid step from the music industry away from DRM-encumbered formats that limit users to either the iPod, PlaysForSure, or Zune music ecosystems.
