The other day Grant Marshall, the Massive Attack member better known as Daddy G, was collecting his daughter from school when he fell into conversation with another parent, an Israeli woman. She asked when Massive Attack were next playing live. Marshall told her there would be three shows this month in aid of the Hoping Foundation. She asked what that was. He told her it was a charity that funds community projects for Palestinian refugee children.

Robot DJs - Don’t Just Request Electropop
I wonder how people actually get hold of these robotic arms, and marvel at their creativity in expounding its function. A pair of Kuko industrial robots have actually been programmed to take over the role of a DJ at parties and nightspots, boasting the ability to scratch discs and mix music to keep the people grooving throughout the night and into the wee hours of the morning.

Two of the country's most famous music venues - the Cavern Club in Liverpool and Manchester's Hacienda - ended their lives under a wrecking ball. But the era of official neglect is over. A new map of England's rock and pop heritage aims to celebrate nearly 200 destinations linked to famous musicians, from Britpop boozer The Good Mixer in Camden to Jimi Hendrix's 1960s London address to Knebworth House, venue for Queen's last concert.
