Double awards win for Winehouse
Soul singer Amy Winehouse has been named female artist of the year at two music award ceremonies in London.
The star collected her trophy at the Mobo (Music of Black Origin) Awards at the O2 arena, where she performed two songs from her album Back to Black.

Numerous artists have retooled 'Rocket Man', among them William Shatner, Star Trek's Captain Kirk. At the Science Fiction Film Awards in 1978, in front of an audience of greying, bemused 'suits', he performed a 'spoken word' version of the song while smoking, self-consciously, an untipped cigarette and enacting a Method masterclass in which he dramatised the Rocket Man's displeasure as he prepares to journey through the clouds.

In yet another battle for control of his name, image, and funkadelic music catalog, the artist formerly known as The Artist Formerly Known As Prince has launched an attack on the internet.
Teaming up with Web Sheriff, the firm currently known as "Europe's leading internet policing specialist," the Minnesota-born pop star has already ordered YouTube and eBay to remove hundreds of supposedly Prince-infringing web items, and he's intent on filing suit against the two web behemoths - not to mention Swedish BitTorrent tracker The Pirate Bay.

This is a rarity: an unreleased promotional single that was probably distributed to radio stations only. There is no discographical info whatsoever (there isn't even a label on the record), but it must date from around 1967, which would be the time of national race riots that it is obviously intended to try and quell.

Leck mich im Arsch (Kanon)
Leck mich im Arsch ist ein sechstimmiger Kanon von Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Seine Entstehung lässt sich auf das Jahr 1782 datieren. Zu Lebzeiten des Komponisten blieb das Werk ungedruckt, erst seine Witwe Constanze Mozart überließ es dem Leipziger Verlag Breitkopf & Härtel zur Publikation. Dort wurde allerdings die erste Zeile des Textes in „Lasst froh uns sein” abgeändert. Der Kanon erhielt die Köchelverzeichnis-Nummer 231. Seit der dritten Auflage von 1937 trägt er dort die Nummer 382c und wurde so in einer Gruppe mit mehreren Kanons und kleineren Gelegenheitswerken, darunter auch „Leck mir den Arsch fein recht schön sauber” KV 382d, zusammengefasst.

Leck mich im Arsch is a canon in B-flat major composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, K. 231 (K382c), with lyrics in German. It was one of a set of at least six canons probably written in Vienna in 1782. Sung by six voices as a three-part round, it is thought to be a party piece for his friends.

Jazz legend Joe Zawinul dead at 75
Jazz legend Joe Zawinul, who soared to fame as one of the creators of jazz fusion and performed and recorded with Miles Davis, has died, his son said. He was 75.
Zawinul died in a Vienna hospital early Tuesday, his son, Erich Zawinul, was quoted as saying by the Austria Press Agency. Zawinul had been hospitalized since last month. Zawinul won widespread acclaim for his keyboard work on chart-topping Davis albums such as ''In A Silent Way'' and ''Bitches Brew,'' and was a leading force behind the so-called ''Electric Jazz'' movement.

Joe Zawinul ist tot
Er war ein Weltstar, ein Revolutionär des Jazz und ein Wiener Original: Der Jazz-Musiker Joe Zawinul ist tot. Wenige Monate nach seinem 75. Geburtstag starb er Dienstagsfrüh in Wien, wie sein Sohn bestätigte. Seit Anfang August befand er sich im Krankenhaus. Mit seinen Welthits wie "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy" und "Birdland" schuf er sich ein Denkmal, mit der Errichtung seines Jazz-Clubs "Birdland" erfüllte er sich in Wien auch einen Traum.
