DIY Platinum Spark Plugs with Coins
A Spark plug is one of those humble, anonymous things without which the world would grind—or rather coast—to a halt. And like many underappreciated cogs in the machine, it has a really hard life. A good modern plug will endure 300 million sparks (around 20 per second) over 100,000 miles, each one triggering an explosion around its head as the fuel combusts, driving the engine’s pistons (and thus, your car). But the spark itself is far more destructive than the bang.

LCD display with ethernet interface
Originally I wanted to write the next article about a weather station based on the avr web server. Based on a request from a customer I decided then to develop this circuit first. The weather station comes next. There are a number of interesting aspects/problems here which could also be useful for developing other circuits.

5 Great Ways To Leave A Tip
I was over at a Japanese friend’s house the other night and he started to show me how to make origami with Japanese money. We were having a great time when he said, “The only problem is that there is no tipping in Japan. When I was In the US, I would fold the dollar bills there and leave them as tips. It was so much fun watching the waitresses when they went to gather the tips. I miss doing that.”

Low-Cost 3D Laser Range Scanning for Everyone...
DAVID is a freeware software for laser range scanning. All you need is a PC, a camera (e.g. a webcam), a background corner, and a laser that projects a line onto the object you want to scan. So everyone can use it to scan objects without high costs; this is the big advantage over commercial solutions which are rather expensive.

Underwater ROV submarine camera version 2
This web page will detail the build process, and parts, I used to build an Underwater ROV with video camera. It was started 11/5/05. This will be version 2 of my ROV adventures, I plan to take things I learned from version 1 and fix them, plus I will be adding features later. Here is the Video!!!!!! taken with the older ROV, as I have not been able to get the new sub in the water yet.

PanoramaScanCam
On one of my robots, I wanted to place a camera that could observe everything around it. The camera did not have to have a high frame rate. It was not going to be used for motion capture or real-time autonomous driving. It did need to have a 360 degree field of view. Think in terms of the cameras on the Mars Viking landers of the 1970s.
PanoramaScanCam™ is my implementation of a panoramic camera implemented using the components of a flatbed scanner.

A design for a self-tuning portable RF jammer
This website details the design and construction Wave Bubble: a self-tuning, wide-bandwidth portable RF jammer. The device is lightweight and small for easy camoflauging: it is the size of a pack of cigarettes.
An internal lithium-ion battery provides up to 2 hours of jamming (two bands, such as cell) or 4 hours (single band, such as cordless phone, GPS, WiFi, bluetooth, etc). The battery is rechargeable via a mini-USB connector or 4mm DC jack (a common size). Alternately, 3 AAA batteries may also be used.
