Don't Panic: DIY portable Wikipedia as Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Hack

This Instructable will set out how to construct what I believe to be a unique implementation of Wikipedia in an offline, portable device. It involves installing a stripped-down distribution of Linux on a Psion 5mx handheld, and installing a static HTML version of Wikipedia for use with one of two browsers. Most importantly, you do not have to be a Linux wizard to achieve this. I will assume a basic familiarity with computers, but you do not need experience with the intricacies of filing systems, compiling source code and the stuff that traditionally puts people off using Linux.

Canon cameras are hackable?

CHDK, or Canon Hacker’s Development Kit, is a firmware enhancement that turns your Digic II and Digic III camera into a high dollar impersonator.

Because it’s a firmware enhancement and not a firmware modifier, CHDK is also non-permanent and non-destructive, so even those with a fear of killing their camera can give it a go without worrying about the long-term consequences.

Personal G-Force Meter

After seeing so many applications using acceleromters making a simple project of my own with this cool sensor just seemed natural. The main application of the accelerometer is either for sensing tilt or sensing acceleration. For this application A G-Force meter for my car will be made to see how many "G's" I pull while driving. Below is an example of what the Personal G-Force Meter offers you and how it fits nicely right onto your dash. I put suction cups on it as well but they weren't necessary.

Open-Source 3D Printer Lets Users Make Anything

Picture a 3D inkjet printer that deposits droplets of plastic, layer by layer, gradually building up an object of any shape. Fabbers have been around for two decades, but they've always been the pricey playthings of high-tech labs — and could only use a single material. A Fab at Home kit costs around $2400 and allows users to print anything from Hors d'Oeuvres to flashlights.

Ionic wind heatsink

Inventgeek has a slick DIY heatsink project. It's completely silent, unlike the traditional CPU fan. With a $24 ion generator and a few items that you can pick up at the hardware store, the device is able to generate an ionic wind that pulls air through a traditional heatsink. The total cost is under $60, is completely silent, and puts tens of thousands of volts of static electricity an inch or two from your CPU.

Winemaking

Jack Keller's winemaking site has not only the basics of home winemaking in 5 parts, but also information on more advanced topics, including acidity, blending, and using a hydrometer. Equally interesting is his extensive collection of recipes for making wines out of things other than grapes, including dandelions and other edible flowers, wild plants (including nettles!), cabbages and beets, tea and coffee, mint, pomegranates, and pumpkins. A complete list of recipes is here, if you'd like to click through alphabetically, and a list of specially-requested recipes is here.
