American Concentration Camps
A typical American reaction to footage of the Third Reich's concentration camps is to shudder and say "But that could never happen here." At which point, an interior monologue voice is compelled to come back in an ominous tone with, "Or could it?"
The answer to that question, of course, is "yes, of course it could," followed by "in fact, it already has," in addition to "and it still is," with the added stipulation that "it's possibly much worse than you imagined."

Bioresonant
Bioresonant clothing seeks to exploit an astonishing new theory in bio-physics: that the information exchange in human consciousness can be directly influenced and enhanced by vibrations of Light, that we call colors. Isn't color stimulation safer for us than the water we drink?

The priest, his wife, and her girlfriend
I am having a hard time dealing with my wife's new lesbian lover.
Dear Cary,
I am an Episcopal priest, and a couple of years ago my wife informed me that she is a lesbian. She had struggled to understand this for years and it had finally become clear. We are still very much in love. I was accepting of homosexuality before this happened, so I am accepting of hers as well. But at times it has been very confusing. She has insisted that while she is not generally attracted to men, she is attracted to me -- that I am the exception. And I have every reason to believe her, finally. We have a child and we are very much a family.

Ikea says founder not the richest
The founder of furniture giant Ikea isn't hurting for money, but the company he founded denied on Monday a report that he surpassed Bill Gates and Warren Buffett to become the world's wealthiest man.
In an article to be released this week, Swedish news weekly Veckans Affaerer said Ingvar Kamprad, 77, the founder of Ikea, surpassed Gates and Buffett.
The falling exchange rate between the Swedish krona and the U.S. dollar, the magazine said, had caused Kamprad's personal fortune to rise to an estimated $52.5 billion.
Ikea said that wasn't so.
"This is completely wrong. It's a mistake that is made all the time," said Ikea spokeswoman Marianne Barner.
"Estimating the value of the company, including all the stores, and saying it's all Ingvar's, that is totally wrong. Ingvar Kamprad does not own Ikea."

Marshall McLuhan, the Man and his Message
He was a man of idioms and idiosyncrasies, deeply intelligent and a soothsayer. He had prescient knowledge of the Internet. Although educated in literature, Marshall McLuhan was known as a pop philosopher because his theories applied to mini-skirts and the twist. For his ability to keep up with the cutting edge, one colleague called him "The Runner." Critics said he destroyed literary values. Today, McLuhan’s ideas are new again, applied to the electronic media that he predicted.

Toilets of the World
Well, everyone always asks about this....
When you travel off the beaten path, it doesn't take long until the question comes up. ``Well, you know, how did you, well, when you had to, well, uh, what was it like?'' So here are pictures that I have taken, of toilets I have encountered. Before you complain that I have not yet visited and photographed your favorite one, realize that (with one exception) these are all places I have been. If you would like to send me an airline ticket to Hawaii, Kenya, India, coastal China, or wherever, feel free. Until then, don't expect me to show your favorite scary toilet.
