It's bad enough to hit a moose with a car.
Try hitting two.

Two moose killed by the same truck in Fairbanks area. That's what happened to Jim Remington and his family Sunday night around Fairbanks. They hit a bull moose and a cow moose. Remington was driving with his girlfriend Sherry Steffens, their two children and the family dog when one moose crossed in front of their pickup truck on Farmers Loop Road on the outskirts of town.

Then the truck hit the other moose.

Horse named Budweiser falls into hole
Some men'd do anything for a Bud on a hot day

The horse -- named Budweiser -- slipped hind-end first into the backyard tank's circular opening after breaking through a plywood covering and a layer of dirt. The animal had to be hoisted out with a strap hooked to a county skiploader. In between, the horse waited calmly with his head and front legs stuck out of the hole, munching on carrots, getting cooled off with a garden hose and being petted by firefighters and animal control officers.

High-Speed Locomotive Powered by Jet Engine

The maker of America's fastest train is shopping around a new product that could bring high-speed rail service to areas outside the Northeast. Bombardier Transportation says its new "JetTrain" locomotive, powered by a jet engine, can reach 150 mph without needing overhead electrical lines like those used by Amtrak's high-speed Acela Express. Bombardier led the consortium that built Acela Express, which operates in the Boston-New York-Washington corridor.

Just How HOT Are My Chiles?

In 1912 a chemists by the name of Wilbur Scoville, working for the Parke-Davis pharmaceutical company, developed a method to measure the heat level of chile peppers. The test is named after him, the "Scoville Organoleptic Test". It is a subjective dilution-taste procedure. In the original test, Wilbur blended pure ground Chiles with sugar-water and a panel of "testers" then sipped the solution, in increasingly diluted concentrations, until they reached the point that the liquid no longer burned their mouths. A number was then assigned to each chile pepper based on how much it needed to be diluted before they could no longer taste (feel) the heat.

Southwest Alaskans see bird they say is Super Cub-sized

A giant winged creature, like something out of Jurassic Park, has reportedly been sighted several times in Southwest Alaska in recent weeks.

Villagers in Togiak and Manokotak say they have seen a huge bird that's much bigger than anything they have seen before.

A Dillingham pilot says he spotted the creature while flying passengers to Manokotak last week. He calculated that its wingspan matched the length of a wing on his Cessna 207. That's about 14 feet.

Skeptical biologists say people are probably reporting a Steller's sea eagle.

2,000 bodies found underneath family home

The find was unearthed in the cellar of the property after plumbers came in to repair a pipe and discovered the skeletons under the floor. Specialists say the remains date back to the 1100-1350. One possibility is that they were moved from a cemetery in the 14th or 15th century to make way for a new cathedral.
