Twelve Dead in French Express Train Fire
Twelve people died from smoke poisoning in a fire on the Paris-Vienna express train near the eastern French city of Nancy early Wednesday, local officials said.
The victims, apparently foreigners, were traveling in two German railways sleeper cars hit by the fire, which Nancy railway staff said they noticed as the train rumbled through on its way from Paris toward Strasbourg.

DMV Says Woman Driving Since Age 4
Jessica Thompkins hasn't been driving since she was 4 years old, despite what the Division of Motor Vehicles says. The 21-year-old was stopped for driving through a traffic light in Goose Creek. A sheriff's deputy did a computer check, and said her driver's license had been suspended following a traffic accident in 1986.

Concorde hit by engine drama
Panic broke out among passengers on board an Air France Concorde flight when engine trouble caused the plane to drop thousands of metres. Air France told BBC News Online the plane, which was flying from New York to Paris, dropped to subsonic speed and reduced altitude by 7,000 metres (22,000 feet).

The Samsi Japanese restaurant in Manchester is charging £75 to eat food placed on the bodies of two nude women. Angel Tan, 22, and Kit-Ying Ross, 25, will act as human tables at the first of the "nyataimori" nights on Friday.

Couple married for 85 years
Liu Yung-yang and his wife Yang Wan were married in April 1917. About 40 of the couple's 110 children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren have been celebrating with them.

Hot-Air Balloon Bursts Into Flames During Event
A hot-air balloon crashed after it burst into flames in midair while taking part in an international competition in Japan. Officials said that two of of the balloon's crew members were injured in the crash. The accident occured just after 9 a.m. Monday morning during the "2002 Saga International Balloon Fiesta" competition on the Kase river in Saga city, Local 6 News reported.

Three-legged old tom cat terrorising big dogs
A 15-year-old cat with three legs is terrorising big dogs in a Dutch community. Nelson's owner says she doesn't know what's come over her pet which hates big dogs and attacks them on sight. Adele Spikker says he has had complaints from dog owners who no longer dare walk their dogs near her home in Zwolle. She told Deventer Dagblad: "Since last summer, he has been more of a tiger than a handicapped, old tom cat. I get complaints from people who don't dare walk their dogs around here any more."
