Russian official says nuclear material has disappeared from country's plants
The head of Russia's nuclear regulatory agency says small amounts of weapons- and reactor-grade nuclear materials have disappeared from the country's atomic facilities.
''Instances of the loss of nuclear materials have been recorded, but what the quantity is is another question,'' Yuri Vishnyevsky, head of Gosatomnadzor, said Thursday. ''Of those situations that we can talk about in actuality, they involve either grams of weapons-grade or kilograms of the usual uranium used in atomic power plants.''

Kite Aerial Photography
This aerial camera mount is designed to use a Kodak® MAX outdoor camera (the one without the flash), triggering it with a KSB model airplane de-thermal timer. The design could be adapted to other timers and cameras, though specific dimensions would change. The rig is quite light - about 10 ounces ready to go - so it can be lofted in marginal conditions where a larger facier rig could not.

700-year-old picture of 'Mickey Mouse' found in Austrian church
Walt Disney first sketched his character in 1928 but an Austrian art historian spotted an uncannily similar drawing.
The painting, which has been dated back to the early 14th Century, is in the Community Church in Malta, Carinthia. Next to a large sketch of St. Christopher is a clear drawing of the mouse.

World's biggest liar to defend title
The World's Biggest Liar will defend his title against a small but devious group of challengers in a pub in northern England later today. George Kemp beat five-time winner John Graham last year with a string of tall tales including one about his grandfather's greyhound which he said stopped in the middle of a race to have pups and then went on to win, followed by the puppies.

A rather hungry breakfast-seeker cut her way through the McDonald's drive-thru line - and no one dared complain. Germany's "dumbest criminal" jailed
A German bank robber who forgot to cut open eye slits in his mask and lifted it up to demand money has been convicted and sentenced to four years in jail, state prosecutors in Giessen say. The robber, dubbed "Germany's dumbest criminal" by Bild newspaper, had entered a bank in the western town with a burlap bag over his head. Bumping into bank customers on his way to the teller, he pulled out a plastic knife and a toy pistol.
