Mobiler WLAN-Hotspot auf dem Fahrrad
Der New Yorker Künstler Yury Gitman hat sein Fahrrad in einen mobilen WLAN-Hotspot umfunktioniert. Die WLAN-Antennen sind am Fahrradrahmen montiert, das benötigte Notebook ist in den Satteltaschen versteckt.
Das WLAN-Rad, oder Magicbike, soll aber nicht nur als trendige Alternative zu Netzcafes oder Büros gelten. Es soll auch eine Rolle bei der Bereitstellung von Netzanbindung in von Providern unterversorgten Gebieten bringen.

EU führt Softwarepatente ein
Der EU-Wettbewerbsrat hat heute den Beschluss gefasst, künftig Patente auf Software zu ermöglichen. Dies soll aber nur für Software in Zusammenhang mit Hardware, etwa ein bestimmtes Handy- oder Waschmaschinenprogramm, gelten.

Sasser Worm Infects Computers Connected to ISPs
The Sasser worm is spreading quickly. Unlike worms and viruses which spread through e-mail attachments and other avenues, this worm hits any PC connected to an internet service provider. People with firewalls will most likely not be affected.
