Fans mark 30 years of Star Wars
More than 25,000 fans have gathered for a convention to mark 30 years since the release of Star Wars in US cinemas.
Director George Lucas' tales of intergalactic battles between good and evil first opened in just 32 US cinemas on 25 May 1977.

Top 50 VFX Movies
A few weeks ago, myself and the other 1500 members of the Visual Effects Society voted on a survey to determine the 50 most influential movies from a visual effects point of view. Each of us was asked to pick our favorite 50 from a list of 400 visual effects driven movies, from Mary, Queen of Scots filmed in 1895 to the latest crop of 2006 including Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and a few others.

Coppola film set for Rome debut
Francis Ford Coppola's first film in 10 years will premiere at Italy's second annual Rome Film Fest in October.
The Italian-American director will showcase his World War II film Youth Without Youth, starring Tim Roth, according to Screen Daily.
Roth stars as an elderly professor whose apparent immortality makes him a target for the Nazis.

Socialite Paris Hilton lost her virginity to TV producer Aaron Spelling's son Randy, according to the former Sunset Beach star himself.

The brown hooded cloak worn by Obi-Wan Kenobi in the "Star Wars" films — and then forgotten for years in a warehouse — sold for $104,000 to an anonymous telephone bidder Tuesday at an auction of movie and TV memorabilia.
Audience members raised their paddles in rapid succession as costumes flashed across TV screens at Bonhams, a British auctioneer, as staff fielded phone bids from all over the world. When the hammer dropped on a Bond girl's cat-suit or Anthony Hopkins' army uniform, men in dark blazers whispered the prices into their cell phones.
