Fans gear up for Monty Python day
Hundreds of fans from across the world are set to descend on Doune Castle this weekend for the third Monty Python Day.
The 14th Century keep was made famous as Castle Anthrax in the 1975 classic film Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Pirated Simpsons movie traced to phone
A man has been arrested in Australia on suspicion of filming The Simpsons Movie in a cinema on his mobile phone and uploading it to the internet. The unnamed 21-year-old from Sydney has been charged with copyright theft and could face up to five years in jail.

Steven Seagal says FBI probe ruined career
Steven Seagal, whose action movies once were major box-office attractions, believes false allegations by FBI agents ruined his career, the Los Angeles Times reported on Friday.
The comments in the Times are the first Seagal has made publicly about an investigation begun some five years ago by the FBI into accusations he intimidated a reporter and had ties to organized crime.

Filmmakers Chase Their Dream -- on a Segway
Josh Caldwell and Hunter Weeks were bored with their cubicle-farm jobs, making good money but feeling empty and unfulfilled. Like many white-collar workers, they dreamed of a life beyond the veal-fattening pens. But unlike most, they found a unique way to bust out of their corporate prison: They rode a Segway, at 10 mph, from Seattle to Boston, and in the process turned themselves into filmmakers.

Germany bans Cruise film
Germany has barred the makers of a movie about a plot to kill Adolf Hitler from filming at German military site because its star Tom Cruise is a Scientologist, the defence ministry has said.
Cruise, one of the film's producers, is a well known member of the Church of Scientology, which the German government does not recognise as a church and says is against the country's constitution. Berlin says it masquerades as a religion to make money, a charge Scientologist leaders reject.

Remy, a common rat with a gourmet's soul, has made his way to the kitchen of the once-great Paris restaurant Gusteau's. Here, the new Pixar movie Ratatouille tells us, he will be able to create superb dishes--if only he can find a human ally. His desperate choice: a callow scullery lad named Linguini. Remy, in the logic of animated features, understands the boy's words, but Linguini can't speak rat; so the two communicate through Remy's nods and brow furrowings. Somehow, the kid gets the message. "I can't cook ..." Linguini says, and the rodent shakes his head no. "But you can?" Remy answers with a Gallic shrug so eloquent it says many things. First, a modest "Eh, a little." Beneath that: "Well, not to brag, but I'm actually quite proficient." Most important: "Trust me. Together we'll cook up some magic."

20 Movies Not Coming Soon to a Theater Near You
In a summer full of threequels, it might seem as though Hollywood has run out of original ideas — but we beg to differ. For every Shrek the Third, there are hundreds of scripts (and even some completed films) in studio vaults that have been waiting to emerge. Some have stars ranging from Tom Hanks to Johnny Depp attached and still find themselves waiting to see the light of day. For every film that collects dust but eventually gets its happy, Hollywood ending — like Dreamgirls or the full-steam-ahead Speed Racer — there is a dream project like Stanley Kubrick's Napoleon, which likely died with the director.

TMZ has confirmed that Paris Hilton is currently being checked into Twin Towers Correctional Facility, the same place where she checked herself into custody on Sunday night after the MTV Movie awards.

Los Angeles government officials are being bombarded with e-mail from Americans enraged by the early jail release of Paris Hilton. A sampling of correspondence received in the past day by members of the city's ruling Board of Supervisors can be found below. The 29 letters on the following pages appear representative of the thousands of missives flooding government officials in the wake of yesterday morning's release of Hilton, 26, from a county lockup. The letters blast Sheriff Lee Baca's decision to spring the heiress after only three days in custody, with one correspondent wondering how much Hilton's family paid to secure her release. To no surprise, the word "travesty" appears in many of the letters. (30 pages)
