Jean-Pierre Wils gilt als renommierter Theologe und Ethiker, er genießt international hohes Ansehen - und seit Samstag ist er nicht mehr Mitglied der katholischen Kirche. Seinen Austritt begründet der Gelehrte mit der Entscheidung des Papstes, vier Traditionalistenbischöfe - einschließlich des Holocaust-Leugners Richard Williamson - zu rehabilitieren. Der Beschluss hatte einen weltweiten Sturm der Entrüstung ausgelöst, insbesondere katholische Gläubige, Geistliche und jüdische Vertreter meldeten sich zu Wort.

Attenborough reveals creationist hate mail for not crediting God
Sir David Attenborough has revealed that he receives hate mail from viewers for failing to credit God in his documentaries. In an interview with this week's Radio Times about his latest documentary, on Charles Darwin and natural selection, the broadcaster said: "They tell me to burn in hell and good riddance."

Atheist ads 'not breaking code'
An atheist UK bus campaign which uses the slogan "There's probably no God" does not breach the advertising code, a watchdog has ruled.
The Advertising Standards Authority said it had assessed 326 complaints. Some claimed the wording was offensive to people who followed a religion.

Scientologen narren Uno und Politiker
Mit der Initiative "Jugend für Menschenrechte" versucht Scientology Menschen zu erreichen, die der umstrittenen Glaubensgemeinschaft eher kritisch gegenüberstehen. Nun ist dem Tarnverein der erste deutsche Politiker auf den Leim gegangen - und die Uno.

The Vatican will soon have its own channel on the video sharing site YouTube where the Catholic faithful or the curious will be able to see Pope Benedict or Church events, a Vatican source said on Saturday.

Catholic parents criticise promotion of the condom in Spain
The Spanish Ministry of Health is promoting condom use and cheaper prices.
The Confederation of Catholic Parents Associations in Spain (CONCAPA) has called on the Ministry for Health to withdraw the advertising campaigns promoting the use of condoms to avoid unwanted pregnancies.
