Google's Next Steps


After Google aquired Picasa, and new rumours on Google's video search plans surface, here are my predictions of what we will see next at Google:

Gmessenger - A free and unobtrusive chat client, competing with AIM, MSNM, YIM, et al.

Google Videos - Search through videos; see thumbnail image previews.

Google Audio - Find music online.

Gmail Public - Google's service stepping out of Beta and going public. August 1st sounds like a good date.

Google Acquires Picasa


Google Inc. today announced it acquired Picasa, Inc., a Pasadena, Calif.-based digital photo management company. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"Picasa enables users to easily manage and share digital photographs, and its technologies complement Google's ongoing mission to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful," said Jonathan Rosenberg, vice president, Product Management. "Picasa is an innovator in the field of digital photography, and we're excited that the Picasa team is joining Google."

"Googles.com" verklagt Suchmaschine "Google"


Am Mittwoch ist bei der US-Behörde für Patentrecht und Warenzeichen eine Klage gegen die Internet-Suchmaschine 'Google' eingegangen. Der Kläger, die Kinder-Website 'Googles.com', besitzt die älteren Namensrechte.

Find MP3´s on Google and Yahoo


"intitle:index.of” mp3 Instrumental ("intitle:index.of” mp3 name of the song) and you will get a list of all the mp3's with instrumental in title.

You can also try the same with other format like WMA by punching "intitle:index.of” wma Instrumental” ("intitle:index.of” wma name of the song).

Google launches new services


The internet leader in web searching Google, has announced today that they're rolling out two new web services for site operators.

In what seems to be a move to extend it's advertising and search business Google launched AdSense and Site-Flavored. The first is aimed at delivering targeting ads to unsuspecting browsers and the later allows websites to customize search results.

Google Bomb List


Google Bombing, the act of linking text to a website to raise the association on Google, even when the text does not appear anywhere on the site, has been in the news a lot lately. The technique was first cited in mid 2001 by Adam Mathes referring to Ben Brown as an "internet rockstar". In otherwords, when you type "internet rockstar" into Google, the top link was Ben's. Google Bombing has become especially popular for political statements. Here is a list of all the popular bombs I could find:
