Mexico finds cocaine haul hidden in frozen sharks
Mexico's navy has seized more than a ton of cocaine stuffed inside frozen sharks, as drug gangs under military pressure go to greater lengths to conceal narcotics bound for the United States.
Armed and masked navy officers cut open more than 20 shark carcasses filled with slabs of cocaine after checking a container ship in a container port in the southern Mexico state of Yucatan, the navy and Mexican media said on Tuesday.

Drastische Maßnahme im Kampf gegen die Drogenkriminalität in Mexiko: Das Militär hat in drei Städten die Polizei entwaffnet. Sie soll zum Teil von Drogenbanden unterwandert sein. Insgesamt wurden die Gewehre von 2700 Beamten eingezogen.

Kiffen gegen die Krise
Die Große Depression des vergangenen Jahrhunderts hat mitgeholfen, die Prohibition in den USA zu beenden - Könnte die aktuelle Krise das Gleiche für Marihuana bedeuten? Es brächte nämlich auch Steuereinnahmen
Was hat Marihuana mit der Haushaltskrise in Kalifornien zu tun? Auf den ersten Blick gar nichts. Außer man befragt Richard Lee. Lee hat nämlich eine "Bewusstseinsveränderung" im Volk festgestellt. Mehr und mehr Bürger, so der Direktor der Oaksterdam University, die keine Uni ist, sondern eine Verkaufsstelle für medizinisches Marihuana im kalifornischen Oakland, könnten sich durchaus mit einer Legalisierung von Marihuana anfreunden. Lee verweist auf die jüngste Umfrage zum Thema: Nach Field Poll befürworten 56 Prozent der Befragten eine Legalisierung. Lee weiß auch warum: "Steuergelder." Besteuert könnte der Verkauf der Droge nämlich ein erkleckliches Sümmchen in die öffentlichen Kassen spülen.

Nearly 35 pounds of Psilocybin (hallucinogenic) mushrooms baked into about 500 chocolate peanut butter cups were intercepted by Murfreesboro Police vice detectives before being sold at Bonnaroo music festival beginning Thursday in Manchester.

Handlung? Ist in "Bang Boom Bang" nur Nebensache. Die deutsche Kifferkomödie lebt über seine Figuren - pseudoharte Macker und heiße Ruhrpottbienen, alle neben der Spur, aber allesamt zum Liebhaben.
Was ist eigentlich aus dem deutschen Kifferfilm geworden? Kurz vor und nach der Jahrtausendwende sah es mal so aus, als berge das Genre viel kreatives Potenzial, eine Annahme, die sich bei näherer Betrachtung allerdings gerade mal aus zwei Filmen generiert: "Lammbock" aus dem Jahr 2001 ist der eine, die amüsante, eher harmlose Geschichte eines Botendienstes für sehr spezielle Pizzen in Würzburg. "Bang Boom Bang" von Peter Thorwarth aus dem Jahr 1999 ist der andere - und bessere.

Drug smuggler forgets to pick up drugs
If you're going to smuggle large amounts of drugs into the UK, here's a handy piece of advice: remember to reclaim your drug luggage after you get off your flight.
Officials from the UK Border Agency say someone left a suitcase packed with 20 kilograms of cocaine, with an estimated street value of £800,000, at a Heathrow Airport luggage carousel.

Pot bust ripped out $2 million in plants near Snelling
Agents with the Merced/Mariposa High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force reported destroying 14,291 marijuana plants from an operation conducted Friday at several sites in Merced County.
Cmdr. Neil Compston of the HIDTA task force said the plants had a street value of about $2 million and weighed more than 750 pounds.

Kroatien legalisiert Cannabis
Kroatische Kriegsveteranen dürfen jetzt ungestraft Cannabis rauchen. Das geht aus einem Urteil des Obersten Gerichtshofes des Balkanstaates hervor, wie die Zeitungen in Zagreb am Donnerstag berichteten. Das Gericht reagierte auf die Berufung eines Veteranen, der in seinem Hinterhof Cannabis für den eigenen Gebrauch gezüchtet und dafür ein Jahr Gefängnis bekommen hatte. Der Mann ist nun frei.

Civil Guard tries to smuggle cannabis into mainland Spain
A Civil Guard officer was arrested by colleagues in Melilla this week as he tried to board the Almería ferry with more than 100 kilos of cannabis hidden in his car. Officers found 128 kilos of cannabis pollen hidden in the rear door panels of the vehicle and he now faces a public health charge.
