Deutscher Chef-Drogenfahnder verhaftet
Der Leiter der Drogenfahndung in Kempten ist nach Informationen der "Augsburger Allgemeinen" wegen des Besitzes von 1,5 Kilogramm Kokain verhaftet worden. Der 52-Jährige sitze seit einer Woche in Untersuchungshaft, berichtet die Zeitung (Samstag). Die Staatsanwaltschaft in München bestätigte auf Anfrage, dass ein Polizist wegen Besitzes von Rauschgift in U-Haft sei.

Citizens Initiative Underway To Legalize Cannabis In The European Union
A citizens initiative to legalize cannabis in the European Union is underway, with advocates needing to collect 1 million signatures from 7 member states within a 12 month period.
Advocates of the initiative – which was approved by the government in November – officially began their signature gathering campaign this week. If advocates are successful in gathering enough signatures, the measure would be put to a vote next year.

Deep in the heart of the Tepito – the traditional home of Mexico City's black market – Juan's two mobile phones buzz constantly as he gets closes his deal. He takes the calls with precise and efficient directions, but a certain twitchiness breaks through his clean cut and calm exterior.
"Sure, you make money in this business," says the marijuana dealer who started out a year ago selling grams on street corners but is now buying kilos direct from suppliers. "But it is a very stressful job."

US-Banken dürfen mit Cannabis-Verkäufern handeln
Nach der Freigabe von Marihuana in Colorado hat die US-Regierung den Betreibern von Coffeeshops die Eröffnung von Bankkonten ermöglicht. Das Finanzministerium in Washington veröffentlichte am Freitag Richtlinien, wie Geldhäuser mit den staatlich lizenzierten Marihuana-Anbietern Geschäfte machen dürfen. Das Thema ist rechtlich äußerst heikel: Während Marihuana seit Jahresbeginn in Colorado und bald auch im Bundesstaat Washington vertrieben werden darf sowie 18 weitere Bundesstaaten das Rauschmittel für medizinische Zwecke freigegeben haben, stuft die Bundesregierung es weiter als illegale Droge ein.

Florida lawmakers introduce bills to legalize medical marijuana
Florida state legislators introduced identical bills on Monday to legalize medical marijuana treatment in the 2014 legislative session, in a bid to win approval before a constitutional amendment on the issue comes up for a public vote in November.
Senators Jeff Clemens and Joe Saunders, both Democrats, brought numerous patients and their family members to the unveiling of their bill, which would effectively implement by statute the constitutional amendment that is on the November ballot

Prisoner rats himself out with Facebook selfie of cell-grown cannabis
A Polish prisoner has taken one of the most head-desk-bang-bang selfies ever: a picture of himself, taken on a contraband mobile phone smuggled into the prison, showing a lush, equally contraband and definitely illegal cannabis plant he grew from seed in his cell.
According to Metro, Marcin Zendarski used the illegal smartphone to keep in touch with friends, watch TV shows and browse the web from an Austrian jail.

Kiffen ist laut US-Präsident Barack Obama nicht gefährlicher als das Trinken von Alkohol. Das Rauchen von Marihuana sei dennoch eine schlechte Idee, sagte Obama in einem Interview mit der Zeitschrift The New Yorker. "Wie gut dokumentiert ist, habe ich als Junge Marihuana geraucht, und ich sehe es als schlechte Angewohnheit und als Laster, nicht sehr anders als die Zigaretten, die ich als junger Mensch und einen Großteil meines Erwachsenenlebens geraucht habe."

DEA official freaks out at Senate hearing: Reckless marijuana legalization ‘scares us’
The chief of operations at the Drug Enforcement Administration railed against the legalization of marijuana on Wednesday, warning the “experiment” was highly dangerous.
“I have to say this… going down the path to legalization in this country is reckless and irresponsible,” James L. Capra said during a Senate hearing. “I’m talking about the long-term impact of legalization in the United States. It scares us.”
