Anfang der Woche sind in beschlagnahmtem Heroin Spuren des Rattengiftes Strychnin gefunden worden. Der Wiener Drogenkoordinator, Peter Hacker, schlägt jetzt kostenlose Heroin-Tests vor.

P F U I - Thai government may produce 'nauseous' drugs as a deterrent
Thailand's government may circulate fake drugs to put users off by making them sick.
Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra says the speed pills will make the drug unattractive and scare people off using them.
The Bangkok Post says the idea was proposed by Sitha Thiwaree, secretary to the deputy defence minister.
He told a drugs seminar the mainstream drug market will be destroyed by flooding it with the fake drugs at low prices or even free of charge.
The prime minister says the suggestion was made "in jest" but should still be considered by the Public Health Ministry .
Other ideas included rewarding informants who helped in drug busts, legalising softer drugs and using the assets seized from drug traffickers to finance anti-drugs operations. (via ANANOVA)

Group Wins Hallucinogenic Tea Case
A federal judge has ruled that a Brazilian religious group that uses hallucinogenic tea in its ceremonies should get back a shipment of the substance seized by U.S. Customs agents. U.S. District Judge James Parker found that church members' rights under the federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act were being violated by withholding the tea.

Brazil drug film gala turns fiction into reality
A 28-year-old drug trafficker has been arrested at the premiere of a film about the growth of drug dealings in a Rio de Janeiro slum, according to the police narcotics squad.
Authorities said Paulo Sergio Savino Magno, alias the "Little One," the main drug dealer in a local slum, was arrested when he turned up with his wife to see the film "Cidade de Deus" (City of God) on Tuesday night.

Afghan opium crop back to record levels
THE new Afghan government has "largely failed" in its effort to eradicate the opium poppy crop in Afghanistan, which in recent years became the world’s biggest producer of the raw material for heroin, United Nations crop experts reported yesterday.
The 2002 crop was close to the record levels of the late 1990s and could be worth more than $1 billion (£650 million) at the farm level in Afghanistan. The nation’s GDP for 1999 was put at $21 billion.
