Catching Meth Cooks Pink-Handed
It may fall a shade shy of catching thieves redhanded, but for farmers fed up with methamphetamine cooks filching their fertilizer, staining them pink will do just fine.
Assuming you can discourage thieves you cannot easily catch, a new product called GloTell -- which is added to tanks of anhydrous ammonia -- will not only besmirch the hands of those who touch the fertilizer, but leaves its mark on anyone who snorts or shoots the end product.

Pot grower faces murder charges for firefighter deaths
A house blaze that killed two firefighters started in a tangle of wires and lamps that were installed to grow marijuana in a basement closet, authorities said.
The man who police say was responsible for the drug operation was charged with third-degree murder.

Couple Find Cocaine Hidden in Hotel Chair
For a brief time, the Best Western Inn here had a chair worth about $50,000. The chair in room 204 wasn't an antique. Instead, an Ohio couple who stayed in the room Saturday found 4.4 pounds of cocaine in the chair, police said.

2-year-old had lots of cocaine in bloodstream
Police are questioning relatives of a 2-year-old child being treated at a hospital for a large amount of cocaine in the bloodstream.
Jefferson County Sheriff Fred Abdalla said the child's father first alerted Toronto police. Abdalla would not release the toddler's gender, the parents' identities or other details, including how much cocaine was involved.

Naked man arrested in break-in
Hallucinogenic mushrooms may have played a role in a bizarre incident Sunday that left a Mechanicsburg-area man naked, bloody and jailed on a burglary charge, state police said.
It also gave a South Middleton Twp. homeowner quite a surprise.

The secret at one McDonald's wasn't just in the sauce. The manager at a McDonald's in Montgomery County, Pa., has pleaded guilty to selling pot along with Big Macs.
Authorities say word about Denise Stilwagon's $10 bags got out and she sold some of the illegal weed to an undercover detective.

Medical-marijuana patients in Santa Cruz County would be allowed to possess 3 pounds of pot under guidelines recommended by a group of physicians.
No kidding — 3 pounds. As in, 48 ounces.
While that amount might even make Cheech and Chong blush at first glance, doctors and patients alike say it’s appropriate for medicinal purposes.

'Cannabis' brain tumour drug hope
An ingredient in marijuana may be useful for treating brain cancers, say Spanish researchers from Madrid.
Chemicals called cannabinoids could starve tumours to death by halting the growth of blood vessels that feed it, the Complutense University team hope.
By studying mice, the team has shown for the first time how these chemicals block vessel growth.

'Spot Pot, Get A Lot' program gives tipsters $$
Utah hunters are being asked to keep their eye out for a different type of wildlife than what they're used to: marijuana plants.
Hikers, hunters, 4-wheelers and other outdoor enthusiasts have been successful in spotting entire groves of the illegal plants in Wasatch Front canyons. Thousands of plants worth millions of dollars have only been found with help from citizens, Townsend said. "When you pluck up 9,000 plants in the canyons, it leads you to believe there's more than we're aware of," he said.
