Mit Drogen in der amerikanischen Botschaft
Hans Kristian Rausing ist der Enkel des Schweden, der das Tetra-Pak-System erfunden hat und im Hauptberuf Erbe. Einst gründete er eine Anti-Drogen-Stiftung. Nun wurden in seinem Haus Crack und Heroin gefunden. Schuld ist daran zunächst seine Gattin Eva, die zuvor mit Drogen in der amerikanischen Botschaft ertappt wurde. Mit der Adresse Cadogan Place bringt man in London einiges in Verbindung, sehr viel Geld zum Beispiel, teure Autos und höhere Töchter. Lady Diana ist an diesem lang gestreckten Platz aufgewachsen. Die teuerste Einzimmerwohnung Londons ist hier zu finden und einer der sechs Geldautomaten der Privatbank Coutts, bei der die Queen ihre Konten hält.

Drug boat haul enough for one spliff per person in UK
A boat which docked in the UK last week was carrying cannabis with a street value of more than £40m, enough to make a joint for every single person in the country, the Serious Organised Crime Agency (Soca) said today.
Customs and law enforcement officers seized the Abbira, a 30-metre ocean-going tug, when it arrived at Southampton a week ago. It was moved to Portsmouth where a search recovered 14.5 tonnes of cannabis resin in 419 blocks.
"With a wholesale price of £875 per kg, this cannabis was worth around £2.5m to the importer, and offered a potential profit of around £1m through onward wholesale distribution," a spokesman said.

Cocaine planes make a "Bogotá Connection"
Federal Aviation Administration records obtained recently by Narco News offer some razor sharp evidence that a fat line of connections in the ongoing cocaine plane mystery leads right back to the nose of the U.S. government.
At the time a Gulfstream II jet, packed with nearly four tons of cocaine, crashed in Mexico’s Yucatan on Sept. 24 of last year, the owners of that jet were Clyde O’Connor and Greg Smith — both pilots who hail from Florida.
Both men have since vanished like vapor in the wake of that ill-fated Gulfstream II’s misadventure, but the paper trail has now caught up to them.

Legal loophole means sales of marijuana seeds for home cultivation on the rise
A loophole in the drug laws has allowed a growing number of people to buy marijuana seeds on the Internet for cultivation.
Last year, police confirmed 184 incidents of growing marijuana plants, more than four times the figure 10 years ago, according to the National Police Agency (NPA).
The Cannabis Control Law bans people from growing marijuana plants, but has no clause outlawing the possession of seeds.

1,3 Kg Kokain im Magen geschmuggelt
Auf einen österreichweit rekordverdächtigen Fahndungserfolg kann die Innsbrucker Polizei verweisen. Im Magen-Darm-Trakt eines verdächtigen Nigerianers wurden 1,3 Kg Kokain und auch eine SIM-Karte entdeckt.

Drogenbande mit 100 Mitgliedern aufgeflogen
In Zusammenarbeit mit deutschen Ermittlern ist eine 100-köpfige Bande ausgehoben werden. Das Suchtgift im Wert von fünf Millionen Euro wurde in einem Gasthaus in der Donaustadt weiterverkauft.

Zwei Kilo Kokain am Flughafen Wien-Schwechat sichergestellt
Zwei Kilogramm Kokain sind am 30. März am Flughafen Wien-Schwechat sichergestellt worden. Wie die Polizei am Sonntag bekannt gab, wurden zwei Verdächtige aus Argentinien, ein Mann und eine Frau, als Schmuggler in Haft genommen. Der 27-Jährige und die 37-Jährige sollen das Suchtgift via Buenos Aires und Paris nach Österreich gebracht haben. Die Drogen hätten die Verdächtigen als "Bodypacker" im Körper transportiert.

Je machtloser, desto anfälliger: Bei Affen einer bestimmen Meerkatzenart entscheidet der soziale Status über den Drogenkonsum. Tiere, die sonst nichts zu melden haben, greifen im Tierversuch besonders oft zum Kokain.
Ein Treffen mit einem Fremden kann einigermaßen stressig sein, zumindest für Javaneraffen, eine Meerkatzenart. Die Männchen leben in einer sehr ausgeprägten Hierarchie, in der einzelne Tiere vor allem durch aggressives Verhalten aufsteigen. Ist die Rangfolge einmal etabliert, genügt bereits ein strenger Blick, um die Unterlegenen in ihre Schranken zu weisen.

Sechs Millionen Dollar bar in Lastwagen entdeckt
Auf der Suche nach Drogenschmugglern haben mexikanische Soldaten eine Überraschung erlebt: Nahe der Grenze zu den USA erwischten sie fünf Verdächtige - und fanden sechs Millionen Dollar in bar.
Mexiko-Stadt - Ein Drogenkommando der mexikanischen Armee im nördlichen Staat Tamaulipas fand das Geld in acht Koffern versteckt. Die Fahnder hatten zuvor einen Traktoranhänger und einen kleineren Lastwagen untersucht, die an einer Schnellstraße geparkt waren.
