In March 1982, the seizure of two tons of cocaine at Miami International Airport shocked U.S. officials, who realized they faced a much larger operation than anything seen before. But they still didn’t know of the Cartel’s existence, and Escobar always stayed a few steps ahead. By the time U.S. scrutiny forced Lehder to leave Norman’s Cay in September 1983, Escobar had already forged a new partnership with Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega, and the operation didn’t miss a beat. In fact from 1982-1984 shipments jumped from 80 tons to 145 tons, flooding the U.S. market and causing wholesale prices to drop from $60,000 per kilo to $16,000. But cash flow remained absurd, with revenues of $3 billion in 1983 and $2.3 billion in 1984, netting Escobar alone at least $1.3 billion in profit.

Copenhagen voted overwhelmingly to remove its cannabis prohibition. Here’s why.
Copenhagen just got a lot closer to legalizing the sale of pot.
If approved by the Danish parliament, next year the city could grant licenses to individual marijuana growers. City-owned shops would then sell their crop to the public.
That prospect was deeply amusing to Israel, a burly dreadlocked Cuban in Christiania, the city’s self-declared “free town.”
"I will grow it!" he said with excessive zeal. "I’ve got this big bag of seeds."
Israel was sitting outside a cafe near Pusher Street, the area’s open-air cannabis market, rolling a succession of monster joints for the locals and tourists who drop by for a smoke.

Die Eurorettung dominiert zur Zeit die Politik. Doch Youtube-Nutzer interessieren ganz andere Fragen, die sie Angela Merkel gerne stellen wollen.
Es ist schon paradox: Deutschland steckt in der größten Krise seit der Einführung des Euro, doch was die Bürger vor allem bewegt ist die Legalisierung von Cannabis. Das lässt sich zumindest schlussfolgern, wenn man derzeit den Youtube-Kanal der Bundesregierung besucht.
Dort hatten Nutzer in den letzten drei Wochen die Möglichkeit, Fragen an Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel zu stellen und gleichzeitig Fragen anderer Teilnehmer zu bewerten. Insgesamt haben sich 8.200 Menschen mit 1.800 Vorschlägen beteiligt.

Couple charged after allegedly feeding dog LSD
Nicholas Modrich and his girlfriend Jaime Hughes are facing charges of public indecency, violation of drug related objects, and less than an ounce of marijuana, according to Snellville police.
Thomas said Modrich and Hughes told officers they had taken LSD and had given some to their dog Oscar, who was missing.

Sie morden, plündern und wollen an die Stelle des Kartells La Familia treten: Die Los Caballeros Templarios, die Tempelritter, wollen die Drogengeschäfte im westlichen mexikanischen Staat Michoacán übernehmen.
Seit der Anführer des Kartells La Familia, Nazario Moreno, im Dezember von Militärpolizisten erschossen wurde und der letzte führende Kopf "El Chango" verhaftet wurde, ging die Polizei davon aus, dass sich der Drogenkrieg beruhigen würde. Doch von Beruhigung keine Spur. Denn jetzt haben die Tempelritter ihren Kreuzzug angetreten.

The normal investor cannot be in all places at all times. No matter how much he knows about the market, he or she will always need to read reports, news stories and professional opinions about the companies in which they are interested in investing.
Speed, moreover, is the name of the game in the modern finance industry. Decisions have become a quasi-mob mentality, whereby one piece of news can set off a firestorm in the markets, e.g. China's recent decision to raise interest rates.

Vor dem Alkoholverbot - Auf ein letztes
Dem Rauchverbot wird bald das Alkoholverbot folgen. Die politischen Anstrengungen dazu laufen schon und sind kaum aufzuhalten. Vom zwangsläufigen Verschwinden eines Giftes, das wir ein Kulturgut nennen.
Typische Reaktion auf das bayrische Rauchverbot: Und als Nächstes werden sie das Bier verbieten, oder was? Einzig realistische Antwort: Selbstverständlich! Exakt darauf läuft es hinaus: das Alkoholverbot. Und warum eigentlich auch nicht?

Longtime pro-marijuana and hemp supporter Jack Herer, aka "The Hemperor," died Thursday morning at 70, according to several reports.
Shortly after 11 a.m., the award-winning author of "The Emperor Wears No Clothes," a book that many supporters of marijuana have cited in the fight to legalize cannabis, passed away at his home in Eugene, Oregon.
After speaking at the Portland Hempstalk festival last September, Herer suffered a heart attack and reportedly had a tough row to hoe on his road to recovery due to several other health issues he was dealing with.

Did the CIA test LSD in the New York City subway system?
On Nov. 28, 1953, Frank Olson, a bland, seemingly innocuous 42-year-old government scientist, plunged to his death from room 1018A in New York’s Statler Hotel, landing on a Seventh Avenue sidewalk just opposite Penn Station.
Olson’s ignominious end was written off as an unremarkable suicide of a depressed government bureaucrat who came to New York City seeking psychiatric treatment, so it attracted scant attention at the time.
But 22 years later, the Rockefeller Commission report was released, detailing a litany of domestic abuses committed by the CIA. The ugly truth emerged: Olson’s death was the result of his having been surreptitiously dosed with LSD days earlier by his colleagues.
