Old missile silo used as a LSD lab
Folks living around the former missile silo figured something wasn't quite right. Maybe it was the vehicles coming and going from the complex when most people were thinking of bedtime. Maybe it was the unfriendly attitude of those hanging around the old complex.
Things started to make sense in November 2000, when authorities raided the site - and said they found enough chemicals to make millions of doses of LSD.

Investigators in an unmarked cruiser went to watch the house at 3010 Cogswell Road about 5:45 p.m. Thursday after a caller tipped them off that drugs were there, Hopkins said.

70-year-old accidentally burns down house filled with pot plants.
Man Flees When Marijuana Found In House Fire
The fire started in a house located in the 3900 block of Grayton Street on the city's east side around 5:30 a.m., Local 4 reported. A passerby reportedly noticed the flames and called the fire department.
Firefighters reportedly found marijuana plants in three rooms of the house, including the basement. Police suspect the owner of the house was growing the plants. The homeowner took off in his Lincoln Continental -- running over fire hoses -- before police arrived at the scene, Local 4 reported.

Your Marijuana Tax Stamps Here
The State of Arizona has repealed the drug tax law. Presumably they didn't want to have to worry about whether a judge would finally make it impossible for them to prosecute drug dealers who had purchased the tax stamps. At any rate, you can no longer buy the stamps from the state for 35 cents each if you paid a $100 license fee. Now they are only available from other collectors, like me, who bought them while they were available. I still have both the original version, and the new reprinted version (after the big rush on the MJ stamps because of the court case described below). My price is $10 for each.

Pot Shrinks Tumors; Government Knew in '74
The term medical marijuana took on dramatic new meaning in February, 2000 when researchers in Madrid announced they had destroyed incurable brain tumors in rats by injecting them with THC, the active ingredient in cannabis.
The Madrid study marks only the second time that THC has been administered to tumor-bearing animals; the first was a Virginia investigation 26 years ago. In both studies, the THC shrank or destroyed tumors in a majority of the test subjects.
Most Americans don't know anything about the Madrid discovery.
