Illegal radar detector leads to discovery of 15 kilos of marijuana
A radar detector on the windshield of a car led to the discovery of more than $200,000 worth of marijuana on Monday. During the ensuing search, police found more than 15 kilograms of marijuana, with a street value of about $211,000, hidden in two suitcases in the car's trunk.

Potluck, the long-awaited first movie from High Times magazine.
Should pot movies be decriminalized? It's a question that threatens to tear this country apart. Under the current legislation, any citizen who tries to rent Half Baked, How High or anything starring Cheech and Chong faces fines of up to $10. True, that penalty is only exacted when the renter leaves the videos under a pizza box and forgets to return them to the store on time. But it's an indisputable fact that pot movies have been unfairly targeted in the so-called “war on drug films.”

Revolution in Cannabis
State of the art in pot usage
This is a very important book, but it's mistitled. It should be called "The Cannabis Revolution." Three very important things have happened in the marijuana world in the last decade or so: vaporizers, home-made hash, and sophisticated marijuana cookery. It's amazing that imbibers know little or nothing about say, vaporizers. Their pot consciousness is where mine was in the '60s -- the "toke and choke" mentality.

Cornfield-sized marijuana field found in Gila County
Authorities say they planned to burn the field of 5,000 to 10,000 cannibas plants Friday and arrest suspects who had tended them. The plants were irrigated by suspects who apparently camped in the forest and received supplies from confederates.

Canadian PM Mulls Smoking Marijuana When He Retires
Now Canada can understand why Prime Minister Jean Chretien seems to be in such a hurry to push through a law decriminalizing marijuana.
Chretien, 69, said in an interview published on Friday that he might give pot a try once it is no longer a criminal offense -- presumably after he retires in February. Under the new law, pot users would only pay a fine if caught with small amounts.

Cocaine washes ashore in Portugal
Police have recovered hundreds of kilos of cocaine lying in watertight bags along beaches south of Lisbon.
The bags began washing ashore on Wednesday evening and more than 400 kilos of the drug have now been found by police and coast guards.

More Than 3,500 Pounds Of Marijuana Found At Fla. Port
More than 3,500 pounds of marijuana were found hidden in a container at the Port of Palm Beach Wednesday.
Officers with the U-S Customs and Border Protection found the container behind a false wall in the nose of a sea cargo container coming from Georgetown, Grand Cayman. The container was being transported aboard the M/V Helen T.

Girl, 5, makes bong in class
A five-year-old Territory girl shocked teachers when she showed her class how to make a bong out of a Coke bottle during a ``show and tell'' session.
The incident took place at a primary school in Darwin's northern suburbs.
The revelation comes amid mounting concerns over drug use among Territory primary school students.
At least two instances have been reported to the Education Department of children aged between five and 12 being caught with drugs at school.

Italiens Gesundheitsministerium: Cannabis keine weiche Droge
Cannabis ist keine weiche Droge. Dies behauptet eine Studie von Italiens Oberem Gesundheitsrat, der vor den "gravierenden Nebeneffekten" warnt. Cannabis könne keineswegs als "weiche Droge" eingestuft werden, weil der Konsum zu Abhängigkeit führe und eine Etappe etwa zu Kokain und Opium sei. Das Suchtmittel sei für psychiatrische Probleme wie Schizophrenie, Depression und Angstzustände verantwortlich. Die Droge führe auch zu Bronchitis und Lungenemphysem, hieß in der Studie.
