Cannabis Use Not Linked with Psychosocial Harm
Various reports indicate that young people who use cannabis tend to experience psychological and social problems. However, there is no evidence that marijuana use is directly linked with such problems, according to the results of a study published in The Lancet.
"Currently, there is no strong evidence that use of cannabis of itself causes psychological or social problems," such as mental illness or school failure, lead study author Dr. John Macleod of the University of Birmingham in the UK told Reuters Health.
"There is a great deal of evidence that cannabis use is associated with these things, but this association could have several explanations," he said, citing factors such as adversity in early life, which may itself be associated with cannabis use and psychosocial problems.

German police arrested a green-fingered pensioner harvesting cannabis plants in her Hamburg home after someone tipped them off to a strong smell, authorities said Wednesday.
In a dawn raid of the 68-year-old's flat, police found marijuana plants in her bathroom, bedroom and living room.

Fail a drug test recently? It could be your suntan lotion
While the suntan oils won't get anyone stoned, base officials say the hemp byproducts could be enough to cause someone to flunk a drug test. An article in the base newspaper also cautions that drug-sniffing dogs might be attracted by the hemp oil tanning products.

An employee at a photo lab discovered a photo showing a young child posing with a marijuana pipe and informed the police. The lab in Bardstown, Kentucky, handed police the film and the parents address.

Marijuana Plants Found Growing At Fla. Day Care
Authorities in the Fort Myers area are looking for the operator of a local day-care center after marijuana plants were found growing on property.
Lee County deputies said they initially went to Cynthia Boesenberg's house to find someone who was wanted on felony warrants. However, they discovered several marijuana plants growing in her back yard.

Abgeordnete erlauben bis zu 30 Gramm Cannabis
Wie heute bekannt wurde, hat das Abgeordnetenhaus in Berlin nun beschlossen, dass man erst mit 30 Gramm Cannabis verhaftet werden kann.
Die Regel wird im Sommer in Kraft treten. Bisher waren 'nur' 6 Gramm erlaubt.

Narcotic Lollipops Being Sold on the Street
Pennsylvania law enforcement officials report that a lollipop that doctors use to help cancer patients cope with chronic pain is being sold illegally on the streets of Pennsylvania. These "perc-a-pops" have fentanyl which is a synthetic opioid.
The brand name for the berry-flavored lozenge drug on a stick is Actiq. Cephalon, the company that makes the drug, does not know how many people use the drug recreationally without prescription. People appear to be drawn by the pops' taste.

I Smoked Dope And Tony Blair Watched
In an interview with British daily newspaper the Guardian, Veteran US film director Robert Altman said he smoked dope in front of Tony Blair without any objection from the Prime Minister. Blair and Altman were out dining at rock star Dave Stewart's mansion amongst other guests. "We were sitting there smoking grass. He was sitting across from me, so I thought he was pretty cool," said Altman.
